I grew up a dog person. But here we are, celebrating #NationalCatDay with a life full of cats, in the best way possible. 😻 Between our 3 resident cats (whom you see in the first few photos), starting with Bleu, the tuxedo, and Sammie, our blind orange buddy, and Grace, our all black diva - and the kittens we foster, they make our lives better each and every day. You'll also see a photo of our very first set of fosters, in the summer of 2017, and another photo of some cuties who we've cared for, part of the 60+ cats and kittens we've had the opportunity to love, foster, and help raise over the years through @bittykittybrigade and @felinerescue. ⁣⁣

🔨 I’m often asked if we regret not having upper cabinets, a kitchen reno decision. A quick answer for me - zero regrets! We wanted the space to feel open and airy, and with a small space, upper cabinets can take much of that feeling away. So we decided on lower IKEA base cabinets with @Semihandmade fronts (the DIY wood shaker style that we had professionally painted), and maximizing areas that would have been filled in by spacers. In those spotS, @bcherney took the smallest IKEA cabinet base, cut it to the size needed, and Semihandmade made the custom sized cabinet fronts. He installed the cabinet and created the little slide out, that we fit with @vertspi racks to store my cooking oils and pantry staples. We have another one of these pull outs that’s even narrower that I store my spices in. These might just be my favorite part of the kitchen! 🤗⠀

📌 side note: It’s not widely talked about, but just know you can still get the custom kitchen feel using IKEA base cabinets and Semihandmade fronts, and be able to do it yourself. It’s an incredibly more affordable option than. custom cabinetry! ⠀

this Sourdough Discard Apple Donut Cake is just as good as you can imagine 😮‍💨 i thinly slice the apples so they disappear into the soft crumb, and the cinnamon sugar top bakes into a papery thin, crackly crust. comment with SAVE and I’ll send you the recipe! taken in Hudson, Wisconsin by @heartbeetkitchen

This is day 1 → day 10 healing after my second BBL + MOXI laser treatment, and at 42, the difference I’ve seen in my skin has been pretty wild — I can’t over how much smoother the texture is, the sun spots and age spots were basically erased. And the difference in brightness!
I’m officially a convert.

I did two treatments @petalandstemaesthetics about six weeks apart, and I love the combination: BBL targets visible pigmentation and uneven tone, while MOXI triggers your skin’s natural healing response and collagen production, helping with texture and overall skin quality.

✔️ Basically: one works on a lot of what I can already see, while the other is doing some longer-game work too.

I’ll absolutely be doing this once a year because I’ve never noticed this much of a difference from a single skin treatment before.

If you have any questions about it, I’m happy to answer. Because I definitely wanted to know what I was getting myself into before I did it.

One of these + coffee is absolutely appropriate at any hour of the day. 🍂☕️🍂 It’s the ginger and cardamom that really does it for me! These Pumpkin Streusel Sourdough Muffins are tall, ridiculously soft, and topped with a buttery streusel that makes them bakery-case good.

I tested these again and again to get that fluffy crumb just right, so you get to skip the fussy work and go straight to making them. 🤗

things started with brown butter because I have a tiny gripe with classic rice krispie treats: they’re usually a little one-note: too sweet and need some depth, some personality. these have both! salty-sweet, gooey, and just different enough from the classic that everyone always asks, “wait, what’s in these?!” as they grab a second. 🤗 by @heartbeetkitchen

i mean, this Everyday Sourdough Bread recipe was *made* for drippy summer tomatoes, extra mayo and salty bacon. 🍅🤗 crusty, chewy, easy to make, and still the loaf i come back to after years of baking.

🌽 Midwest sweet corn is like Georgia peaches; it’s the absolute best. If you know, you know!

And yes, you can totally call this 20-minute Cheesy Green Chile Sweet Corn dinner and eat it right from the pan. It’s a 10/10, no notes kinda thing.

i had no idea you could do this with fresh mozzarella, but whoa it makes an INCREDIBLE dip.

🍅 think of it as caprese’s slightly elevated cousin: fluffy whipped mozzarella topped with jammy, garlicky sautéed cherry tomatoes and basil. i made it for a dinner party recently, and everyone kept going back for “just one more” scoop. then I’d hear, “wait... is this recipe on your website?” 🤗

now it is! and it’s officially earned a permanent spot in my summer rotation.
