🫶🏼success!! Our favorite salsa put up for the year ahead 🍅🌶️❤️‍🔥

This is the 3rd year (maybe 4th?) making @heartbeetkitchen Fiery Roasted Salsa. Would recommend!!

My comments for our family’s medium ish spicy liking:
🌶️ for a double batch I used 2 large (quite spicy) jalapeños and removed the seeds from 1.
🌶️ 2 poblanos and the reminder sweet and bell peppers
🤎 recipe calls for espresso powder - a possible substitute that I use is cocoa powder. Don’t skip this! It adds to the complex and smoky flavors of this salsa

💚 some of the sweet peppers and a few of the small tomatoes were mine but everything else came from @brookfieldfarmersmarketwi

Ok that’s all - go make this 😃😃😃

The next installment in the garlic miniseries, Garlic Scape Pesto, and this one’s a two-parter.

First up: prepping the scapes and gathering everything I need. If you follow the harvest post, you already know how obsessed I am with garlic scapes. If you don’t… go find out.

For the garlic scape pesto, I’m using @heartbeetkitchen recipe as a reference point — but I measure with my heart and my soul, so do as Amanda says, not as I do 😈

Part 2 coming soon — the actual pesto making!

Beet root avocado toast!! 🫜 🥑

My dad is leaving for an another bike ride for 9/11. He will be riding for different charities and paying tribute to all the lives lost on 9/11. He will be gone over a month.

I know how much he will miss home cooked meals. While there are amazing restaurants along the way, there is nothing like a home cooked meal. In the last few days that he is home, I wanted to make him a few things I know he loves.

He loves beets. So I came up with a few different types of toast using beets. I started by making a beet puree. I flavored it to make it a little sweet and spicy. I baked my bread to give it a nice crisp. Then I layered my toast with @boursincheese cheese and with the beet puree. Then I added avocado slices and more beet slices. To add a little more flavor I sprinkle @superiorcrack seasoning! He absolutely loved it.

Lastly I am so proud of my dad. He is a breast cancer survivor, 76 years old, and cycles so many miles to stay in shape while giving back to others. He is the most selfless and giving personal I know. I hope to do half of what he does. Love you dad!! You’re such an inspiration!!

Life gets busy, but one thing’s for sure—we’re always grateful for a reason to gather. 🤍

Our recent backyard summer soirée was a long-overdue evening to slow down, get creative, reflect on what a wonderful year it’s been, dream a little about what’s ahead, and most importantly, celebrate the incredible women who make La Rue Marché what it is.

A huge thank you to Amanda of @heartbeetkitchen for helping bring the evening together with fresh summer flavors, homemade sourdough pizzas, and the sweetest ending. We added a little La Rue flair with a bandana bar filled with treasures from some of our favorite downtown Hudson shops @thepurpletreewi @the715hudson, @beeskneeshudson, some found pieces, and local sweet treats —including jars of honey from @houltonhives for each of the girls to take home. 🍯

We were missing a few around the table, but there will certainly be more nights like this! Because truly, the sweetest thing about La Rue has always been those around the table.

So grateful for this team, this little shop, and all that’s been + all that’s still to come. 🤍

Ice cream cake inspired again by @heartbeetkitchen - thanks for your magic, Amanda! Gluten free Oreos pulsed in a food processor with melted butter for the crust. Spray a springform pan with avocado oil and press cookie crust into the bottom. Freeze for a few minutes . Soften 1 pint of dairy free ice cream on the counter or your favorite ice cream - we used SO delicious dairy free cookie dough (also gluten free) . Place in the freezer again to prep for the peanut butter and hot fudge layer. Remove after about 5 minutes freeze time and spread a layer of creamy Valencia peanut butter followed by a heavy drizzle of hot fudge. Freeze again to set. Make maple whipped cream by using heavy whipping cream in a mixer with a glug of pure maple and beat until fluffy. Spread on top and finish with dye free sprinkles. 🎉 Rain or shine - this is sure to be a party.

I often find strawberry jam way too sweet; however, this Strawberry Rhubarb jam is a perfect balance of sweet and tart. It also has beautiful vanilla undertones thanks to the seeds of a vanilla bean.

This Best Strawberry Rhubarb Jam for Canning recipe was developed by Amanda Paa and is available online @heartbeetkitchen .

I adore my @kilneruk strawberry jars to preserve this jam. They are such good quality and so attractive. No matter what time of year I pull one of these fun strawberry jars out of my pantry to put on the table, it makes the jam so much more appealing.

I really appreciate the fact that this recipe has no commercial pectin in it.

Amanda’s instructions are so easy to follow to get a great jam consistency. One of our favourite ways to enjoy this jam, as shown in the reel, is on a homemade sourdough biscuit made with @1847flours Daily Grind flour.

English muffins 🥰
They’ll be made into breakfast sandwiches to stash in the freezer tomorrow and made me a pretty tasty lunch today.
I love using sourdough but it’s rare I make something without following someone else’s recipe. This English muffin recipe is from @heartbeetkitchen. Give it a try!
