Some of the most meaningful therapy sessions are the ones that feel completely ordinary. 🤍

I think many of us therapists know that feeling of finishing a session and wondering whether we offered enough. Was there enough insight? Did something shift? Was it helpful?

We care deeply about our clients and the work we do. And sometimes, that caring comes with an expectation that every session should produce something significant.

But after years of doing this work, I've come to appreciate just how much can happen in the quieter moments.

A client feeling comfortable enough to be themselves. A conversation that helps something settle. The experience of being heard without judgment or pressure to be anywhere other than where they are.

Not every session ends with a breakthrough. Not every conversation leads to an aha moment.

And that's okay.

As therapists, part of our work is learning to trust the therapeutic relationship, the process, and the value of showing up with genuine presence and care.

A little something for us to remember the next time we find ourselves questioning whether we did enough:

Meaningful work doesn't always announce itself. Sometimes it happens quietly, one session at a time. 🌿

🤍 Fellow therapists, does this resonate with you?

I've come to appreciate that some of the most meaningful moments in therapy aren't about finding answers at all.

Sometimes people come into therapy feeling lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next. And as therapists, we can feel the pull to help them find clarity, make progress, or reach some kind of resolution.

But our work isn't about knowing the way forward for someone else.

It's about sitting beside them long enough to understand what the path has been like. Helping them notice what they may have missed. Making room for new perspectives, choices, and possibilities.

And trusting that they have a voice in where they go from here.

A few things I keep coming back to in my own work:

🌿 Am I making space for discovery, rather than rushing toward an answer?
🌿 Am I listening for what's meaningful to this person, rather than what I think should happen next?
🌿 Can I trust the value of being present, even when progress isn't immediately visible?

We don't choose the path. We don't walk it for them. We simply offer enough light for them to find their next step. 🤍

Fellow therapists, does this resonate with how you see our work?

Every therapist knows that vulnerability doesn't always follow the clock. 😅

Sometimes the most meaningful part of a session happens just as you're wrapping up. And navigating that moment takes compassion, flexibility, and a little clinical judgment.

Because making space for something important doesn't always mean extending the session. 🤍

Fellow therapists, have you learned to avoid that one last question? 😂

Of all the things I love about being a therapist, this might be my favorite. 🤍

We get to be part of people's lives during moments that truly matter.

And not every moment is a breakthrough. Sometimes progress is slow, uncertain, or hard to recognize. Sometimes we wonder whether anything we're doing is making a difference.

Then there are those beautiful moments when someone begins to trust themselves, makes a choice they never thought they could make, or responds to an old hurt in a completely new way.

As therapists, we know that change doesn't happen because we have all the answers. Our clients bring their own courage, insight, and willingness to do the work. We have the privilege of creating a space where that growth can happen.

And what an incredible privilege it is.

If you're a therapist, here's something worth reflecting on:

🤍 What moments remind you why you chose this profession?
🤍 When was the last time you allowed yourself to appreciate the meaningful work you do?
🤍 What have your clients taught you about being human?

It's easy to get caught up in the schedules, paperwork, and responsibilities of being a mental health professional. But underneath all of that is something deeply meaningful: the relationships we build and the trust we're given.

I'm so grateful I get to do this work.

To my fellow therapists: What do you love most about being a therapist? I'd love to hear. 🤍

A little encouragement for the therapists showing up this Monday. 🌿

Some weeks we feel confident. Other weeks we question ourselves a little more. Both are part of growing in this profession.

Whether you're an experienced mental health therapist, a counseling intern, or just beginning your journey, there's something beautiful about continuing to learn while doing work that matters.

Here's to another week of showing up with heart. 🤍

Save this for a Monday when you need it.

Therapists, when was the last time you gave yourself a little credit? 🤍

In mental health work, we're often so focused on supporting others that we forget to recognize our own growth along the way.

Not every therapy session will feel extraordinary. Some days are simply about showing up, listening, and staying connected. And there's real value in that.

🌿 Save this for a day when you need a little encouragement, or share it with a fellow therapist.

One of the strangest parts of being a therapist?
You can spot a pattern in someone else long before you recognize it in yourself.

We can have training, experience, language for emotions, and a deep understanding of human behavior—and still need another person to help us see what we can’t see from the inside.

That isn’t a contradiction. It’s part of being human.

Therapists deserve spaces where they can reflect, be supported, and not have to be the one holding everything together.

Save this for the days you expect yourself to have all the answers. 🤍

As therapists, we hear meaning in more than just the big statements.

Sometimes it’s tucked into the tiny words people use without even noticing.

Those small language habits can reveal where self-doubt, perfectionism, or old expectations are still sneaking into the conversation.

It’s not about policing language. It’s about getting curious about what the language might be protecting, dismissing, or making harder to fully believe.

A small shift in wording can sometimes open the door to a much bigger conversation.

Save this for a future session. 🤍

Therapists are good at staying present.

We listen closely.
We notice what isn’t being said.
We hold space for things that are painful, complicated, and deeply human.

And sometimes, without realizing it, we keep holding all of it after the session ends.

But being a deeply caring therapist doesn’t mean you have to remain emotionally “on” all evening.

Your work can matter enormously—and still be allowed to end for today.

Tonight, maybe that looks like:

• Closing the laptop instead of finishing one more thing.
• Not replaying the session you wish had gone differently.
• Doing something that has absolutely nothing to do with therapy.

You are more than the role you spend your day offering to others.

The therapist in you deserves to rest.

And the person in you deserves some space, too. 🤍

What helps you shift out of therapist mode at the end of the day?

I used to think that if I was still thinking about a client hours after the session ended, it meant I really cared.

Sometimes it did.

But I eventually learned that being a deeply caring therapist doesn’t require carrying every story, every worry, and every unfinished moment with me.

Part of growing as a therapist has been learning to be fully present without making myself responsible for everything.

We can care deeply.
We can stay human.
And we can still go home and live our own lives.

That isn’t detachment.

It’s part of learning how to stay in this work.

🤍 Save this for the days when a session follows you home.

You can be really good at caring for people and still forget to include yourself.

Therapists spend our days noticing.

We notice the shift in someone’s voice.
The tension they’re carrying.
The moment they need a little more gentleness.

Yet somehow our own tiredness can become, “I’ll deal with that later.”

Our hunger becomes another hour without lunch.
Our full calendar becomes something to push through.
Our need for support becomes something we convince ourselves we should be able to handle.

Maybe part of being a therapist is continuing to practice turning some of that attention inward.

Not perfectly.
Not as another thing to accomplish.

Just enough to occasionally ask:

• What do I need right now?
• What am I asking myself to push through unnecessarily?
• Where could I let someone take care of me for a change?

Being a mental health professional doesn’t require leaving your humanity at the office door.

You’re allowed to be the therapist and the person.

🤍 Fellow therapists: what’s one small way you’ve gotten better at remembering yourself?

Sometimes your therapist sees the progress before you do.

The pause. The boundary. The hard conversation. The fact that you keep showing up.

Healing can be quiet, but it still counts. 🤍

Save this for a day when you need the reminder.
