POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Greetings! Been a while, huh?
.
.
The journey is a long and winding road, I believe I'll be posting more about what we do and who are more consistently (God willing!) 🤗🙏🏾💯
.
.
I wanted to share some of the past HEARt* highlights. From my first HEARt* workshop series in the Humber Summit Public Library; HEARt*fest in my home community; teaching the entire grades 4&5 elementary class in Scarborough to create beats, write songs and record them (after building a studio for the school!); 'DINEalogue': a series for women in housing communities that blended cooking cultural food with learning to identify various types of injustice in community; HEARt* Radio Workshop Series: guiding youth to write, create and record their own music, then practicing in LIVE rehearsal for a performance showcase; selecting youth from the Scarborough project for the HEARt* Radio Mixtape Project Pt. 2, having them record music at Seneca Polytechnic, and mix and mastering their work afterward!
.
.
Phew! What a journey it's been! And that ain't even the half of it!!
.
.
So what am I doing? I guess this is self-explanatory self-recognition here. Just preparing myself for what greater things may come...hold on tight! 🤗🙏🏾💯💯💯

Greetings!!
.
.
Here is a quick snippet of my latest partnership with @voiceofpurpose.education and @phoenixsun.vop! 🙏🏾👑🔥🔥🔥
.
.
They hired me (@heartorgto) on to the project to hold down the 'Toronto Hub' at the YorkU space in J&F - for the Toronto residents to gather and grow together through the process!
.
.
This program consisted of working artists of many backgrounds from around the globe!! From Toronto, Vancouver (and other parts in CAN), USA, and all the way to New Zealand!! 🤩🙏🏾✨✨✨
.
.
This was an amazing experience for me, because I was chosen for who I am...like, exactly whooo I am - as a being within the spectrum of beings. It was an honor to be recognized in such a way - so, to VOP I send my sincerest thank you's for being seen for the light I bring to community (and beyond 💗)
.
.
Also, a special shout out to the monster TO talent @lesisha for being a ride or die and coming through every week with ample EQ, coachability and liveliness!! May Jah guide you through to your greatest endeavors, my friend! 🫡🤗💯

HEARt* Radio Mixtape Pt. 1 (circa 2023) 🔥🔥🔥
.
.
In the last phase of a 13-week hybrid project, this is a few of us in a live-jam sesh rehearsal, before the participants' upcoming stage performances just days away...
.
.
Here we are getting ready and having fun before their (awesomely) big day!! 🥰🤗
.
.
Shouts to @phoenixsun.vop for holding it down with the guidance and funding opportunities here - and to @themadhatteroffact on the drums (most likely), @sam_is_sappy on the gee-tar (most likely, lol), and @itsojonugwa joining me on the mic + @narley_media for his dedicated documentation skills!!
.
.
Cheers to the wonderfilled times then & the beautifully, abundant, creatively-expressive, wonderful times ahead...* 🫡💯👑✨✨✨

Hey! 👋🏾 I've got an exciting opportunity for teaching artists and for those looking to start or ground their arts teaching capacity!
.
.
@voiceofpurpose.education is putting on a workshop series that from March 5th to May 28th this year, that explores the deeper workings of the teacher and purpose of the artistry.
.
.
This program will further develop the well-being practices (and more!) behind the artist teacher in effort to build a stronger foundation to serve their purpose in our world 🌎
.
.
For further information, check VOP's Catalyst Incubator Zine!! (in the bio ✨)
.
.
If you have any questions, feel free to DM. HEARt* has been blissed with the opportunity to nominate folks to secure spots - but they are filling up - so make sure you secure your spot for this unique experience today!!! 💯 (Deadline January 31st!)

Greetings Vurld...
.
.
I want to share something that fits the theme of the eve...something that just happened to me... ❤️👑✨✨✨
.
.
I was looking for something specific to eat and the store that makes this dish was closing...as I was headed back home, I noticed a restaurant that I've never eaten at before...but I thought, even though the culture is kind of different, they may have a similar option...
.
.
I told the owner what I wanted and she suggested something larger, I said I have never had this so I'll build up to it another time... 🫡 while I was waiting, she came to me with a plate - told me what it was and pulled a piece of the roti-like bread, scooped up the food with one gentle hand, and blessed it before she fed me some...(I'm very conscious about that sorta thing - after all we just met, and I'ma gentleman 😉😭)
.
.
...There's a love that I'm learning to receive these days. It's not forced, it's not arbitrary, it doesn't come with an agenda...it's pure and from the heart! I can feel it, discernment is key to carry forth in this new era of my life. Jah guides the way and my father always has my back! 💯🙏🏾🙏🏾
.
.
This video is a testament to all the purity I've experienced this year, all the things that bring me joy when I look at it (even silly pics that just make me laugh 😂). I've always had a hard time receiving love - in many ways - I think I'm starting to recognize what love actually is (and I'm starting to get the hang of it!)
.
.
Happy New Year...*

Greetings everyone
.
.
Authenticity has its ups and downs, but the healing it brings is priceless! 💯
.
.
Small gestures of genuine care go a long way. We strive to be impactful in the best way and deliver results that you can see the result of - sometimes results that are intangible
.
.
Thank you for your support these past years and our hope is you continue to support in some way...and if nothing else, your positive vibes are enough!
.
.
All the best for 2025...*
🥰🥰🥰🔥🫡🤗✨✨✨

Greetings Vurld!! 🙏🏽
.
.
Here's an addition to the project I recently accomplished! 💯
.
.
The school had no facilities for recording, so the VP and I came up with a plan that would work for the space that was available - and voila!! 🤩✨✨✨
.
.
This had the youth buzzing and everything came out sounding 🔥🔥🔥 !!
.
.
Giving thanks for beauty in all forms. Tis only the beginning, it seems...*

Superrr-blissed this year to engage in a dope music creation project with elementary youth, guiding them throughout this process and really stepping up in terms of mentorship, teaching, coaching, and my own creative capacity. 💯🙏🏽
.
.
I love working with youth. They get it. They're open to being silly (like meee 🙃) and fulljoying life as it comes - finding ways to create something from nothing and dream big! ❤️‍🔥
.
.
@educatorsonemic @needsomekoi I'm grateful to you both for the pass, and allowing me the space to fully do my thing!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽✨✨🦋🦋
.
.
Soaring to new heights, I do not forget my 'why' in this life, fam. Nor does a day go by without the plight of the people in my heart (light as a feather, heavy as led)...Ergo, I create a world within the world to help alleviate suffering, using these skills and gifts, to help others stand in their light - one heart, mind, and soul at a time...* #jahlove

So proud of these humans for their growth in capacity and the sharing in this sacred and essential space...🔥🔥🔥
.
.
Being a part of something this innovating was especially heart-warming for me...as it allowed me to grow as an artist and arts educator - while empowering others in their passions and purpose, too! 🙏🏽🙏🏽💯
.
.
Again, big shout out to everyone involved! May the journey i-tinually be fruitful for you on the road to becoming who you're meant to be...* 🦋🦋🦋

Here's a #flashbackfriday vibe, doing rehearsal sessions with the finalists for the HEARt* Festival back in 2016/17 and filmed by the awesome @narley_media 👑
.
.
First, we all ran through songs a couple times to get them right for the stage. We then got into some dope freestyling/beatboxing cyphers. Shout out to everyone who gathered in those unforgettable moments. 💯
.
.
Good times and God willing more to come. HEARt* is definitely a place for people to be surrounded by 'heartical' souls working towards something positive to share with the rest of the community. this to bring forth awareness of what's actually happening in the hearts and minds of the youth and elders around us...* 🙏🏽🦋
