This valley in Chester County is the home of @warwickfurnacefarm. I’ve been visiting these hills since I was a kid, driving through this countryside when I needed to decompress. Now, I’m hosting a meditation series here, thanks to @claire__rosen who partnered with me to launch In Awe: A Mindfulness Series at Warwick Furnace Farm. ✨ If you’re looking for a moment of reset and want to learn about the science and practice of awe through the lens of mindfulness, connecting with your breath, your body, and your heart, and inviting some space and ease, join me September 12th, 17th, 24th, and October 1st. We’ll meditate on the hill overlooking this valley, and then you’ll go on your own awe walk through the fields. You can sign up for one or all of the sessions. I’m so excited to announce the fall edition of “In Awe: A Mindfulness Series” at @warwickfurnacefarm this September and October for four weeks! ✨

One of the ways I try to bring light to the world is through the practice of awe. Simply noticing a blade of grass, widening our perspective to take in vastness, listening to the wind, being with people who are curious and kind: these are ways we can practice awe.

I’ve been working with researchers at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center for years, exploring the science of awe and mindfulness. Research suggests that practicing awe can expand our sense of time, increase critical thinking, make us more generous and kind, and activate our rest and reset response.

Join me on the farm and experience the practice of awe!

I was 8 and a half months pregnant with Iris (18 years ago!) the first time I played @philadelphiafolkfestival The midwives were following me around “just in case.” We played the Lobby Stage that year and got to meet so many new musical friends who are now dear friends. A few years later we played the Camp Stage, Gene Shay signed his bobblehead for me, and Taj Mahal told me he made his album Giant Step/De Ole Folks at Home to remind people that we’re all music. That’s what folk music is, a reminder that music is our birthright as humans. That songs aren’t owned, they’re shared. And that we‘re all connected to something beautiful.

This Sunday, I get to be part of the @godfrey_daniels showcase on the Tank Stage from 1:30 to 2:50, sharing songs with @spencerlajoye and @maria_woodford_music ✨ See you at Fest! by @heatherhurlock

Still processing the raw beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Serving awe meditations with an incredible group of badass women while lake hopping and hiking mountain peaks was an incredible journey. @godfrey_daniels is one of the great listening rooms in American folk music, and I’m honored to be part of their showcase at the @philadelphiafolkfestival this year!✨

Catch me on the Tank Stage, Sunday, August 16, 1:30–2:50 p.m., alongside two artists I can’t wait to hear: @spencerlajoye the Kerrville New Folk winner whose viral anthem “Plowshare Prayer” landed in hearts all over the world, and @maria_woodford_music the Lehigh Valley legend, and finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. These are the only photos I have from the four-week Awe series at @warwickfurnacefarm and they sum up everything. Serving mindfulness and awe on the farm while the lavender was in full bloom was a dream. Hazel was my helper and getting to share this experience with her filled me with so much gratitude. Thank you to the Rosen family for your generosity in letting me host this series on your farm. To @claire__rosen claire for managing all of the logistics with skill and grace. And a huge thank you to everyone who showed up and practiced with me on the hill. I'm excited to announce... 🌿✨

In Awe: A Mindfulness Series in the Lavender Fields — four Thursday evenings this summer at @warwickfurnacefarm in Chester County, PA.

We'll gather on the hill while the lavender is in bloom, we'll spend some time learning about the science of mindfulness and awe, we'll do a short guided meditation, and then we'll take an awe walk through the lavender fields.

This series is part of my practicum for my mindfulness teacher certification. I've been working with researchers at UC Berkeley for years, exploring the science of awe and mindfulness. Research shows that experiences of awe expand our sense of time, increase our generosity, steady our nervous systems, and open the kind of humble, curious attention that is the heart of mindfulness practice.
