tom and i started daily vlogging on june 29, 2026. today is day 40! 🤯

it’s been so much fun to create something every day. to share human life daily. the imperfect, the messy, the unoptimized, the unfiltered.

i feel like i’ve really come to appreciate my life as a 41 year old in a new way. our life is not perfect… and that’s the point. because imperfection is reality. it’s what makes us human. it’s not something we should feel like we have to hide. it’s normal. and i believe that now, more than ever, the world needs more REAL✨

because REAL is fun. it’s beautiful. it’s funky and unique. there’s ALWAYS something to discover. the extraordinary in the ordinary. what i’m capable of. even my own voice.

no AI here. everything is just me, tom, the DJI osmo pocket 3, and final cut pro. and yes, it’s hard to make a video every day. that’s also the point. i feel like with every vlog, we learn something. we level up. we build confidence. we grow.

it’s been one of the most powerful creative endeavors for us and i can’t wait to see what we create next! how long will we keep this up? i don’t know. we’ll just keep vlogging every day until we can’t for some reason. until then, we’re enjoying the ride!

WE STARTED A NONPROFIT AND WE’RE OFFICIALLY 501(C)(3)!! 🤩😭🥳

it’s been a busy year for tom and i. one of the things we’ve been working on is transforming HeatherJustPlay (HJP), my youtube channel about video games and its online community, into a nonprofit organization. it’s been months in the making and we’re so excited to announce that we’re officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!

the content creator space and social media have drastically changed in the past year. so when i saw the genuine connection and positive impact happening within the HJP community, i wanted to protect it and cultivate it. but how do we fund an online community built around a youtube channel without trying to chase algorithms and trends? i didn’t want to sell a membership. i wanted to shift our focus from creator-centric to community-driven.

what about a nonprofit?

we haven’t seen this done before in the creator space. but we think it’s worth a shot.

if only to support all of the positive impact already happening in HJP, it’d be worth it. where we go from here though? we’ll see!✨

i think the general advice when it comes to negative comments of “ignore, delete, block” is probably the best approach for creators. however, i also think it’s important to call out problematic behavior. just because words are conveyed through a screen doesn’t mean they don’t have impact. comments with words of encouragement, gratitude, and good vibes have the ability to brighten someone’s day. that also means that comments with contempt, rudeness, and resentment can make someone feel shitty. if you’re projecting your hurt onto someone else just because their content popped up in your feed, that’s on YOU, not the creator. we have no control over the algorithms.

content can make us feel all kinds of ways but you always have full agency of how you react as a result. believe it or not but not all content was made with you in mind. so if you don’t like what you see, you can always scroll on by~ ✌🏼 by @heatherjustcreate

getting back on that JUMP ROPE grind! your girl is rusty! but all good. one jump sesh at a time. now that it’s FINALLY getting cooler, i’m looking for fun spots to jump in the coachella valley! preferably outdoors. colors, murals, art pieces, etc. low foot traffic areas because i am shy. 😅 lemme know if you have a suggestion 😎

Thanks to my wife @heatherjustcreate for the awesome new photos!

After 9+ years, this is the first time I’ve had photos for my YouTube channel that I didn’t take myself. Usually it’s me spending a lot of time setting up self timers or scrubbing through lots of awkward video to find something that works (and trust me, the “no” pile is A LOT bigger than the “maybe” pile).

Heather had a specific idea of something she wanted to try for new photos. She said that she wanted to show the side of me she loves (I still can’t believe that exists, but I’m very lucky it does 😉). Her goal was to share more of the fun and personality behind my YouTube videos, which is something that’s really hard to do on my own. I tend to get caught up in the details and the products/topics more than anything.

It definitely felt super strange to be the one being directed in front of a camera, but thank you for helping me share more of myself! by @heatherjustcreate

Worlds colliding! After 800 videos, this was the first time I’ve ever rented a location for a video. I’ve been working on this one for a while now and there’s still a ways to go, but a huge thank you to @yololivtech for helping to make this possible. I never really thought hockey and YouTube would merge like this, but it’s been such a fun project! A/V gear and ice hockey is a very fun combination.

It’s one thing to talk about what a tool can do (in this case, multi camera sports broadcasting with the YoloBox Extreme), but it’s another to see it in action. And that wasn’t something I could do on my own, so a huge thank you to @heatherjustcreate for being the best co director ever and for making sure to catch a lot of fun behind the scenes footage! And another massive thank you to everyone who came out to play hockey and have some fun so that we’d have a real game to use for the video!

one of our favorite spots for sushi is Sushi Bento in Indio! that firecracker roll though 👌🔥 don’t be fooled by the exterior. this is tom’s favorite SOOSH ever. also, tell me why tom placed the soy sauce right in front of the camera? 😝
