MUDHONEY: STEVE TURNER On Surviving Seattle Without Losing The Plot
- Ali Williams interviews for @heavy__mag

Australia has been claiming a little piece of MUDHONEY for longer than most of the world had worked out exactly what to call them. The Seattle band first made it down here in 1990, possibly becoming the first of the emerging grunge contingent to do so. Speaking with HEAVY, guitarist Steve Turner still has a fairly simple correction for anyone getting too enthusiastic with the historical labels. “We still think of ourselves as a punk band.”

"Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It's transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life" - Aretha Franklin 🖤

Looking back on the Hazy Shade of Winter and the gigs that defined it, we're reminded not only of the snapshots of a Solitaire season but of another lifetime. Three nights all anniversaries for lengendary bands, capturing the now as perfectly as our collective then reminds us to never say Goodbye; the music made and nostalgia conjured will always offer a warm hello 🧡

Completing the hat-trick alongside the amazing @rebelrebelgig for @heavy__mag, very special thanks goes out to all the Kool kids involved in making it happen & @lionartsfactory for hosting 🖤

Please enjoy a moment with these punk pioneers:

Get ready to unleash the fury as Dark Down South III returns to Kirup this November 21 and 22, bringing two days of relentless metal mayhem to Western Australia's South West. From Friday through Saturday, Jim McDonald Oval will once again transform into a haven for metalheads, showcasing a lineup that cuts across the full spectrum of heavy music. Headlining this year’s festival is a crushing lineup of extreme acts, featuring Mexico City’s unrelenting force Demente, the blistering grind chaos of Melbourne’s Nembutolik, the oppressive weight of Iniquitous Monolith, scene veterans Infected, and the raw, unfiltered energy of Melbourne’s Kunt Squad.

For the first time in history, Good Things Festival have managed to secure the three headlining acts EXCLUSIVELY for the festival. Meaning, of course, there will be no sideshows from these bands in Australia or New Zealand.
Limp Bizkit, Spiritbox and Simple Plan will only appear across the three Good Things dates on December 4 in Melbourne, December 5 in Sydney and December 6 in Brisbane. So if you want to catch any or all of those bands live best you grab a ticket now, because this announcement is sure to make each Good Things show a sell out. by @heavy__mag
