Skindred finally made it to Perth for their own headline show. Holy shit!! These guys are something else live.
•
Benji walked out and pretty much took control of Magnet House straight away. He had everyone jumping, singing and doing whatever the hell he asked of them. The guy barely has to try. He points, the crowd moves. He starts singing something, everyone joins in.
•
And the set was just fun as hell.
•
Rat Race, Pressure, Kill the Power, Nobody, Gimme That Boom all went off, but then they’d randomly throw a cover into the mix and somehow none of it felt out of place. It just felt like Skindred doing whatever the fuck Skindred wanted.
•
That mix they have shouldn’t work as well as it does. Heavy riffs, reggae, punk, hip hop and massive singalongs all smashed together, and live it’s even better. One minute you’re headbanging, the next the whole room is bouncing.
•
But Benji was the thing that really got me. What a fucking frontman. He’s funny, he talks shit with the crowd and he has this ridiculous ability to make a packed room feel like everyone is part of the show rather than just standing there watching it.
•
Perth got the first night of this Australian run and Skindred absolutely delivered.
•
I knew these guys were supposed to be good live.
•
I didn’t realise they were this freaking good.
