In October of 2025 a conversation started when I asked a friend where she likes to eat in Big Bear and somehow ended with "You should do the finishers shirts for @wser."

A little over 8 months later and after many many revisions I am honored that shirt belongs to a few hundred 2026 Western States 100 finishers. Several of those finishers are friends of mine. This year's Western States weekend began at 3:30 am Saturday with a wake up call. Packing up the condo and off to the start line to see @trail_junkie_brett off. Then off to Auburn to sort of cars and crew. I drove home to support my daughter at her swim meet and attempt to rest and also help pack for our family reunion - I was exhausted from broken arrow and trail con- but I failed to nap. Late that afternoon I high tailed it up to Foresthill to see Brett and other friends come through. I started my volunteer sweep job a little after 11:45...volunteered through the night and into the morning. I got back to Placer high in time to grab a quick bite and run out to Robje Point as Brett finished. I was able to cheer in other friends to their finish and after golden hour rushed home to drive out to Arizona for a family trip. I love this weekend. The crewing, the pacing, the volunteering! And this time being a part of the finish line swag! I will continue to run my qualifier and put my ticket in the drawing. I will always volunteer! But I don't know if anything will top this! How can I help?

Last Friday my son's climbing gym was donation their sales to groups helping immigrants....and I wanted to do the same. My first thought was to help them obtain legal status here in the US. And I plan on doing just that...but I recently saw reports of people being afraid to leave their homes due to being targeted. A church in MN is collecting food to drop off to these people....This is what I want to help with now! If you know of any organizations that are helping people that are suffering because of what is going on in the world right now please share them so that others who wish to help can do so!

I recently posted something regarding mistreatment of people on my personal account that got some backlash and criticism....I have been told that we are being pawns while the politicians are playing games...that the media is telling us lies... that what is happening in MN is the law.

Here are my thoughts..... All I have asked is that our representatives stand up for humanity...and I am wanting to make donations to help people in need. I would rather ask for goodness when I perceive that bad things are happening and be wrong then sit back and do nothing and be right. by @heidi_garner_studio

I asked @jakegarner06 if today was one of his most magical days ever. He said "no". Then I asked "Top 3?" He also said "no". Then I asked "what about top 10?" Again "no." I mean what 19 year old boy does not want to go on a hike with his middle aged mom and her middle aged friends to go take whimsical photos on a swing in the mountains while wearing costumes? (Ok..this is probably not a normal thing for middle aged women to do.. good thing we are not normal.. @gigiskee ... by @heidi_garner_studio

A while back a friend was telling me how much she enjoyed some of my monochromatic designs that i had one in the past. The first pair of vans that i drew on were covered in sea creatures....so here I am revisiting that with a sea creature bandana design. I have three bandana designs currently in stock, and I will be putting 4 into production soon, but the turn around time is pretty long. I am excited to get these made and available. I will be doing this design in blue and then an Arches, Yosemite and Grand Canyon bandanas in a different style. by @heidi_garner_studio

It was so awesome for my son to have the experience of sweeping 14 miles on Saturday at @kodiak_ultramarathons with my husband. I realized my younger kids have experienced ultra running aid stations while volunteering with me, but my older son has never seen one in person. I could not wait to hear what he thought about them! He said he does not even like grilled cheese but had 3! Funny what happens when you are out there for miles and miles and hours and hours and the things you crave. He said it was wild seeing all the open food and people just grabbing stuff (I missed that about the pandemic. Honestly!) and then he said it was crazy to see guys walking around with baggies full of mashed potatoes! A huge shout out to the aid station volunteers that take such good care of our runners and volunteers!!! My shifts were overnight and certainly magical, but I am glad he got to see the course during the day...8 hours out there!!! . (Yep. That is a long time and there were people missing cutoff there is always that chance for things to go sideways in 100k) and they loved seeing people in my hats! I had the most wonderful time sweeping Friday and Saturday night for @kodiak_ultramarathons. I find the volunteering is usually a win win situation. Sweeping is a great way for me to get in mileage while traveling to work at an event and the race needs sweepers! When seeping it is ideal to not have pace goals. It is all about what that last runner is doing and time on your feet...and for me I got to work through sleep deprivation and running while tired. It really was a great experience. Thank you to all the volunteer coordinators at @kodiak_ultramarathons by @heidi_garner_studio

I have not done a farmer's market in a long time, and I am not sure when I will start doing them again, but i will be at this little pop up market in Historic Folsom on Friday night this week from 6-9. I will not have my whole tent set up, just a table display with select items... come see me and other great artist! @swoonstudioco by @heidi_garner_studio

I am making dish towel. Limited amounts. Kinda for the holidays. But it got me thinking about products and what I should focus on. Let's do a run down:

Hats: obviously they brought in the most profit so far this year. I have sold over 1500.

Stickers: I have sold over 6000 stickers. They are a lower price item but in the top 5 for profits

Wood ornaments: not really trail running related. But thanks to one national park my numbers are high with almost 1600 sold this year! And also in the top 5 for profits.

Neck gaiters: are up there as well...I get bulk orders from one park on these but I get a few on line sales here and there. Not a ton at races though.

Key chains: not a ton of direct sales, but I have sold almost 500 due to wholesale park orders. I keep them around for holidays

Greeting cards are at 445 so far. Mostly due to wholesale, but none to that big park. They buy prints. And I am over 250 in sales of prints. They do sell a little at races. Which is wild. Our local REI buys a lot of them.

So what about all the other stuff?
Online and at markets I sell a lot of arm sleeves and bandanas as well as the new shoe gaiters. Patches, totes, and camp mugs sell very little but I keep them around for those that want them. I don't sell a lot of keychains at markets and races either but expect boosts over the holidays.

I used to do socks and shirts but the overhead was too high and too many sizes to order. I can do shirts on demand and if I have time I may do some this weekend. by @heidi_garner_studio

These kids had such a good time playing music for the runners at @milemadnessauburn. I told them to treat it a little bit like an open mic night. They had friends coming and going as it worked with their Saturday schedules! At least 4 of them have runner parents @runtinsmc @mothermayi4 and two of my kids. They are all students or former students at @vistaguitarnation_cme @vdleagles @vinkomartini . I got to come see them now and again as I was working my vendor booth and got to speak with some of the runners! @runningwiththejester said he wanted to just stop and watch them...hopefully they did not distract him too much from breaking world records! They knew a lot of songs from different eras and were not afraid to just try anything. I am sure they would love to do it again! Of any local RD's want some live music hit me up and I will ask them. I am sure @vinkomartini can get some leads too. (Btw. We are so lucky to have him teach our kids. He and the running community are a few of the reasons we feel like we hit the jackpot moving here 10 years ago). @garnermikah @jakegarner06 @magnusfinnnn by @heidi_garner_studio
