We are proud to announce the launch of Temple Future Scholars, a program dedicated to creating pathways to college for Philadelphia public middle school students.

In partnership with @heightsphilly and @philly_schools, this initiative will support low-income, first-gen-to-college students—guiding them through their academic journey from middle school to college. By removing financial barriers and expanding opportunities, we’re committed to empowering the next generation of Philadelphia youth. by @heightsphilly

Heights Philadelphia is an economic mobility catalyst with a bold vision: that all Philadelphia students achieve economic mobility through educational and workforce success. They make this possible by providing 1:1 college and career advising, developing career pathways, building supportive communities, and leveraging strategic partnerships.
This past year, Heights served 4,474 Philadelphia students through their core programming. Among them is Laila Warrick (Swarthmore '28), who shared that Heights gave her the confidence and sense of belonging needed to navigate STEM spaces as she prepares for a career as an epidemiologist. Driven by her experience, Laila returned this past summer to serve as an instructor and mentor for a Heights summer STEM course.
We’re proud to support Heights Philadelphia as they ensure every student has the tools, resources, and opportunities necessary to break the cycle of generational poverty, achieve economic mobility, and fully step into the confidence that they belong. by @heightsphilly

POV: Come with me, Nathan (Heights IT intern and collegian), as I recap my trip to Orlando, FL for the 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀!

Students partnered with peers from CodePath, Urban Arts, and UCF Rosen College, teaming up with dedicated mentors from Comcast and Universal to blend technology and creativity to solve real-world challenges. Throughout the summit, we gained valuable early career insights from industry expert panels, went behind the scenes of Epic Universe, and built meaningful professional connections. I would also like to shoutout my team, “Lunar Legends”, and my amazing advisor, Robb D’Egidio — you played a crucial role in the fantastic experience I had at Epic Universe.

"My biggest takeaway from the summit was learning to think beyond my major and explore new possibilities. As an engineering student, I never imagined tackling challenges like this. Learning from others, discovering different career paths, and pushing myself outside my comfort zone made this an incredible experience and inspired me to pursue even more opportunities." — 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻, Heights IT Intern and Collegian at Drexel University

Events like this are a powerful reminder of how vital access is to student success. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜’𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵.

𝗔 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶, 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 who braved the rain and gathered on Saturday, September 26 at the Heights offices for our first-ever 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. It was deeply inspiring to see so many different members of the Heights community connecting, sharing experiences, discussing ideas, and laughing together.

We opened with remarks from our President and CEO Sean E. Vereen, then learned more about how Heights measures our impact through data and student voice. Students, alumni, staff, and volunteers spoke about the many aspects that make up the holistic Heights experience. We had an energetic conversation in our Heights Social Capital workshop: “Weaving the Web: Working Together to Build Students’ Social Capital.” We concluded our day with “Round Robin Roundtables,” a volunteer-led rotating discussion about our volunteer ambassador program, alumni leadership, student experience, and mentorship best practices.

We are thrilled to introduce our next Heights 2025-26 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗺𝗮𝗻!

Dr. Hoffman serves as a mentor for our Biomedical and Life Sciences Summer Program (BEAM). As a mentor to two high school students, he supports their overall confidence and belonging in STEM fields. Peter’s mentee Chloe shares: “With his help, I was able to secure 3rd place at my local science fair, advancing on to regionals, and attend a summer internship, conducting experiments I am interested in.”

Dr. Hoffman has his PhD in molecular biology, spent 15 years as a bench scientist, and served for 30 years as a college professor. Peter shares: “For me, there is no better, more rewarding way to nurture the future than to mentor promising young students. So, while the recognition is nice, the real satisfaction comes from knowing that I may have made a difference for someone. That means a lot.”

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 — 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱!

We are thrilled to introduce our next Heights 2025-26 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘁!

Mathilde has served in every volunteer role possible at Heights. From capacity-building projects like updating our volunteer interview process, to speed networking with high school students, to helping seniors with their personal statements through College Kickstart. She is truly a utility volunteer who jumps in wherever she is needed.

Mathilde is a Senior Director at CCS Fundraising where she supports nonprofit organizations to secure the resources they need to have the most impact on the communities they serve. She's passionate about the nonprofit sector because she spent several years working in higher education and museums. When she's not helping fundraise for good causes, Mathilde can be found chipping away at her PhD dissertation on Medieval Art at Princeton.

Mathilde shares: “Heights is having a transformational impact on students’ lives across the city — the kind of impact that will be felt for generations to come. It’s such an honor to play even a small part in that work. Thank you to the incredible staff and my fellow volunteers for being the best team to do it with!”
