I find myself wandering into his room more than any other part of the house.

We’ve kept adding to the mural - more whimsy, more little pieces of the world he loves. A “moo,” a “rawr,” a “whoo whoo,” some “baas,” and some “quack quacks.” The horse is still waiting to be painted, and he reminds me that it needs a “neigh.”

This room is becoming more than just a mural. It’s a snapshot of his world right now.

And best part? We don’t have to stop. We can keep adding to it as they grow. And when baby girl is ready, we’ll make room for all of her favorite things too.

In the midst of all the chaos of moving and renovating, this is my favorite part. And there'll be more... 🎨🖌️

A lone penguin walking away from the crowd captured the world’s attention because it reflected something deeply human: choosing dignity over conformity. Kurds have long had to navigate survival and resistance without widespread international support.

Like the penguin, there is persistence despite inconsistent or absent allies. Fighting for dignity, equal rights, cultural recognition, and self-determination often means facing backlash from dominant powers and rigid nation-state systems.

Kurdish resistance is frequently dismissed as “divisive”, either accused of threatening Muslim unity or undermining national unity, rather than being understood as a fight for basic rights and survival. Yet despite constant erasure and misrepresentation, Kurds continue to survive, protect their culture, and assert their existence.

The political and social landscape surrounding Kurds often makes the struggle feel deeply lonely. The Kurdish struggle is about survival even when that path is lonely, misunderstood, and challenged.

We come from mountains, not hatred.
We defend life, not domination.
Kurdish resistance has never been about who you are.
We protect the innocent, no matter their religion, ethnicity, or name.
It's not about politics, it's about humanity.
