Tim from Helena Food Share stopped by to talk about the growing need in our community and how Helena is stepping up to help.
Right now, Food Share is serving an average of 170 people each day, 40 more people per day than this time last year. Those customers are also visiting more often each month.
With 7,000 SNAP reductions across Montana, more people are feeling the strain. But Helena continues to show its generosity through food donations, volunteer hours, and financial support as we work toward a hunger-free community.
This year also marks the 25th Anniversary of the “Be a Friend in Deed, Help Those in Need” campaign, supported by Town Pump with matching funds.
As we head into the holiday season, people in our community need hope, and they need our help.
Donate online or at Town Pump and Lucky Lil’s locations to help make a difference.

Did you know we donate discarded food to Helena farmers, so nothing goes to waste?

We are looking for one farmer who would like to pick up discarded food to feed their animals - everything from expired canned goods, spoiled milk, fruit and veggie scraps, old bread, and everything in between. The farmer must be able to commit to picking up every Friday at 3pm and take between 200-500lbs of discards each week. We are looking for someone to start immediately and be a permanent, year-round "Pig Food Pick-up Farmer.”

If you or someone you know wants free scraps to feed their pigs, goats, or chickens (and has enough animals for 200- 500 lbs' worth), please contact Kiley - Kiley@helenafoodshare.org. by @helenafoodshare
