Since I last posted there’s been plenty to make posts about, but I’m racing my dying phone for the thrill of it (so there is no vague, poetic free verse caption); anyway:

Arlo (the bat) and Aurora (orange back) are clumsy yet graceful little lover babies who were born in mid May and came to me in late Sept. Vid at end is Arlo suckling air which at least doesn’t leave hardened kitten saliva (yes I’m allergic but also it’s gross).

They love visitors! I have so many photos and videos, hence the dump, so hmu if you want to see! I have footage of them being acrobats somewhere but not gonna look 🫶 by @hell_iana

GOING TO THE FAIR? check out the CRAFT building with the panels of quilts to flip through! I made 2 of the 36 patches on this Olam Haba piece for a Free Palestine. We even got a ribbon.

On my way to a mikveh to cleanse soooo….some of what got me through ‘til pride (when I meant to post a lot of these by)- walks with friends, talks with friends, attempting to feed ourselves with friends, access to testing, attending art, making art with my hands (not pictured), pets, reads, neighborhood meetings, unpictured events (“hosted” masked karaoke!) and friends, and several tv shows. Oh and restarting Neko Atsume a decade later. by @hell_iana

Waited my whole life to finally be 30 on the outside* and immediately lost the ability to give a fuck. It feels right to not live for the future anymore and let my entire past be a long time ago.

*I spent a lot of time around people in their 30s. I was almost 9 when my sister entered hers and almost 16 when my brother did (and had just gone vegan and was about to get my nose pierced). by @hell_iana

Two years ago tech week had me so stressed that I had the most intense menstruation I’ve ever had and I didn’t make it to @lizphairofficial 30 year anniversary tour for Exile in Guyville. I have missed 2 of the three concerts I’ve bought tickets for since then. So tonight I spent Kol Nidre away from my beautiful community who gathered for services not far from my home. I was with strangers grieving and undulating and beating my heart and growing the rainbow/ resisting numbness by naming pain in Sudan, Congo, Gaza, Minnesota, and many rooms these days where all anyone is asking is for their life to not be taken away and for ALL of us to be free. @tuneyards is a band my college crush got me into. The personal is political is personal. Fearful obedience is selfish and futile. All we have is each other, y’all. Promise not to be selfish. taken in Fine Line by @hell_iana

I didn’t bother to edit my words. When I do that I end up never sharing what I’ve gotten out of my head. Sharing is a first step to connecting and conversing.

May message from Tom was when I was a semifinalist for a national Shakespeare comp on the Kennedy Center stage. He saw my 8 year old devotion to wackiness and fearlessness and let me say yes to some ABSURD things.

I used to feel like EVERYTHING was so significant. I’m learning that when nothing is, anything can be.

It’s prideeeee‽‽‽‽‽ On the first day of the last 6 months of my 20s, I am checking off a LIFElong desire- DRAG KING DEBUT☑️
And how perfect to be doing so with such rad folks across this “nation” who share values of accessibility and who are so willing to process the process together. I set out to EXPAND my gender *expression* and push definitions of womanhood and raise funds for @tctransmutualaid — in the process, I realized how much my creative self is needing outlet(s) and healing. For real- read the last slide written by and then support @withsoftpower (also so many of these other performers, fellow amateurs and hella experienced, are FUELing me with their work and words 🥲)

My parents showed me Priscilla Queen of the Desert when I was 5 or 6 and I immediately and INDIGNANTLY asked “so where are the girl versions of drag queens?”…my desire for handsome ladies was soon met with Victor/Victoria, shoutout to sex-educator and otherwise progressive parents.

This has been on the back burner for…well maybe since Santa Buddy that one Sol Xmas (iykyk). From the moment I heard @christineandthequeens / @rahim_redcar I had the vision. @dorianelectra concert in Feb 2020 changed me. Shoutout to the kings who got coffee with me to talk through their journey, let me come over and learn makeup, led free workshops (Kings and Things!!!🥰). Shoutout to burlesque and pole dancers who make me want to play with femininity as an artistic flavor I can control soooo bad. Shoutout to literally all the trans people who have been my friend ever- your love and support continues to bless me.

First clip is @kenpolletofficial whom I could listen to all day. Talk about not sacrificing any politics for your art or your career! This clip is from an @erikalust film where I never even got to the part where clothes come off.

So many clips and looks didn’t make this video or post or even ever come to fruition. But every step of discussing it, from college to the past week with @nicomakes helping with ALL the things- it’s been a long first step into an art form older than any names for it. And I hope in sharing it, I bring joy and resilience and laughter and motivation to keep groovin’ 🫶 by @hell_iana

Welcome to the Summer Lovin’ virtual stage, Zaf Tig @hell_iana 🤩

Zaf Tig (any/all) is making their messy-beautiful, overdue, and official debut (beyond the inside of a car). Nothing juices them up like getting liminal-especially when it comes to authenticity and performance; how do we both hold tight to and let go of agency within the magic of connection, be it intimate, creative, brief, or any other form.

This triple-Sagitarian’s motto is “anything a man can do, I can do it better. Including being handsome af.” Zaf Tig also stays succulent through disability justice, Diaspora Judaism freed from Zionism, practical anarchism in service of collective liberation (in messy praxis!), and finding the balance of serious and silly in all realms.

It is an honor to have this act of self-love witnessed by the gems that make up radically loving and transformative spaces like Soft Power (including you, audience).
