welcome to my lil home library ✨ when we moved over the summer, I was SO EXCITED to finally have a space for my books and a reading chair. it’s so cozy and I love spending time in here! this room also functions as our guest room (there’s a trundle daybed) and there’s another bookshelf and floating shelves that you can’t see in this picture 🖤 someday, when we’re not renting, I want to have a custom built-in library ✨

To tell a story is in some part to tell a lie, isn’t it?

I can say with absolute certainty that The Knight and the Moth by @rmgillig is one of my favorite reads of 2025. There’s just something about the way Rachel Gillig writes that completely transports you into the world she creates.

Review: 5 ⭐️✨
RACHEL GILLIG HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! I absolutely love her writing. This book was so atmospheric and immersive. She is an absolute master at coming up with the most unique concepts. I can truly say this is unlike anything I’ve ever read. This was one of my most highly anticipated reads this year, and it did not disappoint.
For Sybil, this was a journey of self-discovery and freedom. She began this book as the “perfect diviner,” never questioning the rules or the abbess. Quite literally, a shroud was lifted from her eyes throughout this book, and she was able to see the world for what it was. Rory was there to help her lift that shroud, and helped her realize that she is so much more than a diviner, so much more than the abbess’ tool. Their romance was sweet and pure, something bright amidst the darkness of this world.
The plot of this book was so unique. The concept of the Omens was unique from the beginning, but the way that their mystery unraveled really made this book stand out. The gargoyle was my absolute FAVORITE. I was so pleasantly surprised by the comedic elements—they had me laughing out loud despite the darker nature of this story.
This story made me feel so many emotions. The gist of this is “what if everything you were taught to believe was a lie?” This story is entirely through the POV of Sybil, and she had so many revelations to grow from. Her character development throughout this book was so good. I will literally read (and love) anything Rachel Gillig writes, and I’ll be anxiously awaiting book 2 for the foreseeable future. taken in BOOKSTA by @hello.lenadarling

it wouldn’t be a trip to nyc without making a stop at my favorite bookstore @therippedbodice ✨

my haul included ALL signed editions of the things we leave unfinished by @rebeccayarros, dishonestly yours and destructively mine by @authorkbritchie, and an arcane inheritance by @wordsiren, a blind date with a book (which ended up being rings of fate by Melissa de la Cruz), and plenty of ripped bodice merch 🩷 taken in The Ripped Bodice Bookstore by @hello.lenadarling

long time no see!! I’ve been SO BUSY and realized I haven’t done a monthly wrap up since November, so now I’m playing catch up—here’s my DECEMBER wrap up!! December included my favorite book of 2025 (blood over bright haven), so it was a great reading month and a perfect wrap to the year ✨

I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA—this semester has truly tested me in every possible way, and social media has been put on the back burner. Hopefully things will settle down soon bc I miss the bookish community ✨ taken in BOOKSTA by @hello.lenadarling

thank you @authorljandrews for the gifted pr box for “when fate is cruel,” releasing January 22 ✨ this novella is a companion book to “the ever seas” and “broken souls and bones” so make sure to pick this up after you finish reading those 🖤

What if the villain in every tale is fate itself
Welcome to a special short story collection from the worlds of LJ Andrews.

Part 1: The Ever Seas
Erik Bloodsinger never wanted to live in a cruel kingdom that was desperate to shape their scarred, young king into someone ruthless.

But fate is cruel sometimes.

Perhaps vengeance for his fallen father is what drives the young Ever King, but there are secrets Bloodsinger and his crew keep in the shadows to survive the cruel twists of fate in the Ever Seas.

Enjoy the backstory of a boy king forced to bear the burden of a crown too soon. This story reveals events from the death of King Thorvald up to the days after the earth and sea fae war.

See more of Bloodsinger, Gavyn, Tidecaller, Heartwalker, Sewell, and even some secret allies in the mists of the sea and the lands where songbirds sing.

Part 2: Broken Souls and Bones

Roark Ashwood rose in power behind the walls of the royal fortress of Stonegate, even as an orphan from the enemy clan. He’s formidable, ruthless, and the only remnant of his lost voice is the scar across his neck.

But what vicious twists of fate brought the Sentry of Stonegate to enemy gates? What was his life before he fell into silence and bloodlust?

Enjoy the backstory of Roark Ashwood in the months leading up to the melder raids that left him bleeding and dying at the gates of Stonegate, only to survive by the mercy of a mischievous prince.

Fall into the Realms of Stìgandr and the dark secrets of Roark Ashwood. taken in BOOKSTA by @hello.lenadarling

one of my favorite new (to me) authors I discovered in 2025: @velarothauthor 🖤 I absolutely fell in love with the Blood Grace series when I read it earlier this year (and finally got to snag physical copies on Black Friday)! This is a long (unfinished) series with SUCH a unique take on vampires, a found family to die for, strong worldbuilding, intricate politics, and the sweetest romance I’ve ever read. Not to mention the absolutely STUNNING covers!! I already can’t wait for the next book ✨ taken in BOOKSTA by @hello.lenadarling

what I read in November ✨

I haven’t been as active on here lately because the end of the year is genuinely just so busy!! I had family in town and hosted a huge thanksgiving dinner (lunch?) at home with all of my favorite people. Classes are done and I’m currently wrapping up my first semester of law school with my first final on Friday 🖤 anyways wish me luck and I hope to get back to being more creative/active soon xoxo taken in BOOKSTA by @hello.lenadarling
