This furry guy turns three today. In 2023 Monstrilio came out in the US, now he’s traveled all over (UK, Spain in Spanish and Catalan, Italy, Serbia, Germany, and soon in more countries and languages). To all of you who have read it, thank you, whether you liked it or not, thank you for reading. To those who recommended it, those who shared it, those who reached out with kind words, double-triple-quadruple thank you—you’ve kept me fed with joy.

A veces, revela.

Big news! @hello.samanito is only back with his old pals Dead Ink and a new novel!

From the author of Monstrilio comes Imps!

On a quiet morning, Francisca awakes to a rare good day. She skips work, admires the squabbling sparrows on her tiny terrace in Mexico City, and senses a joy so refreshing it feels dangerous. But when there’s a knock on her door, announcing an odd stranger at her apartment, Francisca, frightened and fascinated, acts on a whim, shattering her peaceful day and predictable life. She can think of only one person to help her with this unexpected, maybe hostile visitor – her estranged twin brother, Pablo.

As Pablo arrives, the day spirals from an awkward reunion into a claustrophobic, feverish confrontation where the twins must reckon with a past they thought they had outrun. Over the course of this peculiar day, Francisca and Pablo realise this man brings devastating questions and a reckoning twenty years in the making.

Imps! will publish in March 2027 and we are pumped.

Second novel! Imps! So happy for these weirdos to do their thing.

Winner of the 2024 Balcones Prize for Fiction for MONSTRILIO, Gerardo Sámano Córdova’s Imps!, a darkly comic novel about a woman and her brother in Mexico City who find themselves in her small apartment with a stranger she’s knocked unconscious, a person they might have kidnapped during their mischievous childhood, exploring themes of imagination, loss, brokenness, and the quest for the extraordinary in daily life, to Masie Cochran at Tin House, by Jenni Ferrari-Adler at Aevitas Creative Management, for publication in 2027 (W).
