🛕 Alpassi Festival 2026: A Celebration of Tradition in Thiruvananthapuram! ✨

The sacred Alpassi Mahotsavam at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram, will be celebrated from October 11 to 20, 2026, with traditional rituals and vibrant cultural programmes.

📅 October 11 – Kodiyettu (Flag Hoisting)
🙏 October 18 – Valiya Kanikka (Grand Offering)
🏹 October 19 – Pallivetta (Royal Hunt Ritual)
🌊 October 20 – Aarattu at Shankhumukham Beach

🪔 Utsava Sheeveli will be held at 4:30 PM and 8:30 PM during the festival days. Devotees and art lovers can also enjoy Kathakali performances from 10 PM onwards.

✨ An evening where rhythm, poetry and devotion came alive through Bharatanatyam! ✨

@asha_sharath_official Asha Sharath’s performance on the eighth day of the 49th edition of the 111-day-long Soorya Festival unfolded through a beautiful repertoire blending classical tradition, devotion and literary expression.

The concert opened with Alarippu, set to Ragamalika and Chathurasra Jati Rupaka Talam, followed by Bhavayami Raghuramam, the celebrated Carnatic Ragamalika composition by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal, set to Rupaka Talam.

The evocative Malayalam poem “Mambazham” by Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon, with music composed by Mithun Jayaraj, brought a deeply emotional dimension to the performance. The evening concluded with a vibrant Thillana in Raga Soorya, set to Adi Talam.

A memorable celebration of Bharatanatyam, where every movement expressed emotion and every rhythm carried the richness of India’s artistic heritage.

The eighth day of the 49th edition of the 111-day-long Soorya Festival featured a captivating Bharatanatyam performance by @asha_sharath_official Asha Sharath, bringing together powerful expressions, graceful movements and the timeless beauty of Indian classical dance.

She was accompanied by Kalamandalam Sumathi (Nattuvangam), Bhagyalakshmi Guruvayoor (vocal), Kalamandalam Harikrishnan (mridangam), Panavally Vijayakumar (violin), Muralee Krishnan (veena) and Girish Perumbavoor (flute).

She was accompanied by Kaniyal Hariprasad (vocal), Jayashree Ramanathan (Nattuvangam), Rijesh Gopalakrishnan (violin), Venkatesan Vedakrishnaram (mridangam) and Hariprasad Subramaniam (flute).

ദിവസംതോറും ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ആളുകൾ വന്നുപോകുന്ന പത്മനാഭസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ മുമ്പിൽ ഇന്ന് രാവിലെ കണ്ട കാഴ്ചയാണിത്. 10 - 20 ഓളം നായകൾ കുരച്ചുകൊണ്ട അമ്പലത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നടക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ച. അമ്പലത്തിൽ വരുന്ന ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു ഭക്തരെ കടിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ ഉള്ള അവസ്ഥ എത്ര ഭയാനകമായിരിക്കും. ഉത്തരേന്ത്യയിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ആളുകളാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ അമ്പലത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും അധികം ദർശനം നടത്താൻ വരുന്നത്. ഇത്തരം നെഗറ്റീവ് ആയിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു വാർത്ത റിപ്പോർട്ട്‌ ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടാൽ അതുണ്ടാക്കാവുന്ന ആഘാതം വളരെ വലുതായിരിക്കും. ഇത്രയും നായകളെ ആരെങ്കിലും ഒക്കെ മനപ്പൂർവ്വം അവിടെ കൊണ്ട് വിടുന്നതാണോ എന്നും സംശയിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഉചിതമായ നടപടികൾ സ്വീകരിക്കണമെന്ന് അഭ്യർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു

The passing of Soorya Krishnamoorthy on September 23, 2026, marks the end of a remarkable chapter in Kerala’s cultural and performing-arts landscape. As the founder of the Soorya Stage and Film Society and the force behind the renowned Soorya Festival, he created a platform where dance, music, theatre, cinema and diverse art forms could flourish.

For generations of artists and art lovers, Soorya was more than a festival — it was a movement that brought the richness of Indian performing arts closer to audiences in Thiruvananthapuram and beyond. His legacy will continue through the countless artists he encouraged, the stages he created, and the cultural memories he left behind.
