A children's book walked into Dragon's Den and walked out with an investment.

@helloanitagrant , founder of @hellohair_book , told me the shift happened before the pitch. She believed she deserved it first, and that single decision changed how she prepared, how she gathered her financials, and how she positioned a book as the seed of a much bigger world, dolls, programs, eventually animation. Her line stuck with me: where you are today is not where you'll be tomorrow, but you can create that story.

Today feels extra special because we’re celebrating our 4th birthday on Crown Day ✨

They called her “Big Eyes and Baldy.”

Years later, she realized those words had planted seeds.

Founded by Anita Grant, Hello Hair was born from a journey back to self. A return to the roots. A return to the garden. A journey of remembering who you were before the world told you who to be.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re using our platform to pass the mic to youth and launch Rise In Your Roots.

In this 4-part storytelling series, @peelschools students share, in their own words, how hair has shaped their identity, confidence, healing, and sense of self.

Because hair is never just hair.

We invite you to share your story too. To rise in your roots is to reconnect to who you are, honor where you come from and choose what you allow to grow.

Growing up, the closest I ever got to @spelman_college was through A Different World and The Cosby Show.The shows that gave so many of us a glimpse of Black excellence.

To be invited to present at the Black STEMinist Summit at Spelman feels surreal.The little girl in me is screaming… and the grown woman in me is deeply grateful 🙏🏾🧡🥹

Before and after Hello Hair’s very first event, through the eyes and heart of our founder and author, @helloanitagrant 🤩

What began with nerves, prayers, and quiet hope turned into a room filled with learning, laughter, questions, confidence, and care.

Watching families, educators, and our youth gather to understand the WHY behind our hair and celebrate our roots was a reminder of what Hello Hair stands for🧡

Celebrating Our Roots was not just an event. It was community, reflection and representation and can’t wait to continue to build.

Forever a student.🎓💚

I’m a commerce graduate. I’ve been through accelerators, fellowships and countless rooms built for founders. And yet, this past week at @dartmouthcollege @tuckschool Executive Education tied it all together in the most clear, tangible, and applicable way I’ve experienced so far.

Laser focused on strategy that I can actually apply to Hello Hair in 2026 and beyond.

This fellowship has already:
• Offset over $400K in tuition and fees
• Helped founders see an average 6% increase in profit margins
• Supported an average 14.3% revenue growth

Deep gratitude to @sheamoisture and @15percentpledge for not only investing in our education, but for bringing such powerful women together. The conversations, vulnerability,m and sisterhood in that room made this experience what it was 🥹🧡🙏🏾 by @helloanitagrant
