Autumn and winter are two of my fave seasons in Japan and what if I told you I managed to experience both over a 4 day long weekend trip in Aomori?

Famed for their apples and their nebuta festivals, Aomori put up one of the best autumn foliage show when I last visited and have lived rent free in my head since. The contemporary arts scene there is also one of the best - my 3 recommendations being:

1. Aomori Museum of Art
2. ⁠Towada Art Center
3. ⁠Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art

Today, we tour Chin Feng and Shu Ling’s @shuls.hua colourful family maisonette.

Originally designed with a modern farmhouse direction, the home has continued to evolve with their family. Using colour, warm wood, playful prints, and sentimental pieces to fill the space, with thoughtful details make everyday life with two young children a little easier.

Most importantly it’s a home that isn’t meant to feel “finished”, but one that continues to change and grow with them.
