Launching the South Asian Healing Collective!
Guided by my own desire to find culturally sensitive and informed practitioners, I wanted to create a resource others like me could turn to. A directory of various south Asian therapists, practitioners, and healers who are using their gifts to support their communities. The artists, energy workers, breath workers, the creators, the cycle breakers. Let’s decolonize the wellness space that profits off of using our culture as a commodity.

We are not a monolith-we all have different lived experiences and relationship with our culture.. For example, I myself often heard I was a coconut (white in the inside even though my complexion and heritage was brown). In my adult years, I have been on my own path of connecting to my heritage from a space that feels authentic.

Welcome to this space. If you would like to featured please fill out the form in bio

I want to acknowledge my sources of inspiration: SAFR, @healing_in_colour, @southasiantherapists & @desitattoocollective by @hellopriyagill

In this article, I write about something that many of my clients come to me to unpack. How do we name injustices in the world in ways that don’t make us seem like we are too much? Too sensitive? Too loud? How do honour our anger and also move towards change.

I write a bit about my own personal experience, of how language gave me permission to connect with my sacred anger. It helped me name the injustices I had long felt but didn’t yet have words for, and became its own kind of initiation. Through this article I take you through how I understand anger not as something to hide, but as something that can guide you. We can carry the power of our voice with fire, softness, and clarity.

A special credit to @decolonizingtherapy whose work helped me have a compassionate relationship with my anger 🔥 by @hellopriyagill

New FREE Substack is up. I am a s*xuality, relationship, and trauma therapist who loves to talk about things we are taught to keep quiet: death, cults, sex and sexuality, relationships, intergenerational inheritance, spirituality, and psychedelics (watch me get shadow banned).

In this article, I write about how breaking cycles is a profound act of devotion - to self, Ancestors, and future generations. I explore how we may inherit pain, we are not bound to it. There exists within us the resilience needed to alchemize it and create capacity for something beyond survival.

Let us celebrate the full calibre of the human experience. Wellness does not just mean a calm, cool, collected nervous system. Sometimes it means embracing the full extent of our human desires. Embrace the chaos. Smash the patriarchy one dead lift at a time. And remember, when in doubt, m*asturbate (sorry mum!) by @hellopriyagill

They say you can only guide people as deeply as you have gone yourself. As a therapist, I too walk down my own path of self discovery and healing.

✨I regularly go to a trauma therapist (my clients Grandtherapist) who supports me work through the transpersonal, relational, ancestral, and traumatic life experiences
✨I resource myself through movement, creative practices, painting, journaling, yoga, community care, connection to the imaginal realm, and meditation
✨I prioritize play, laughter, being silly, and an agent of chaos 😈
✨I attend ongoing clinical supervision for trauma therapy, EMDR, psychedelic work, and sex therapy. I am grateful for my elders, mentors, and people who all build community around this work 🪷
✨I have a deepening spiritual practice of connecting with my ancestors and benevolent guides that protect me and the work I do with clients
✨I do my own EMDR, parts work, somatic work and am held by altered states of consciousness

It is important for me to embody what I walk others through and trust the process. My own work allows me to sit with the unknown, smiling gently at the client across me who feels out of control. It allows me feel a deep sense of compassion for the person who is stuck in their narrative and too scared to explore the somatic sensations associated with shame and fear. It allows me to ground myself in curiosity and humility for person who is integrating psychedelic experiences and check any egoic urges to interpret their experiences for them. I get what it is like to look to move through dissociation and the courage it takes to look past the veil.

Accepting new clients - in person or online! Weee.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Certified EMDR Therapist, and Provisional MDMA Therapist. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (hons) in Criminology and focused my studies on sex work in Canada. I also hold a Master of Counselling Psychology, where I focused my studies on trauma and psychedelics. I have specialized training in trauma resolution therapy, an area of focus I am incredibly passionate about. Some of these include Internal family Systems (IFS), psychedelic assisted therapies (MDMA & Psilocybin), and emotion focused therapies (EFT).

As a therapist, I celebrate the complexity and diverse ways in which our individual and relational experiences shape us. I support individuals navigate relationship struggles, heal from trauma, explore their identity, and the heal from the impacts of systemic marginalization. Whether you are queer, poly, kinky, or are exploring identity, ancestral or cultural wounds, or are living with patterns shaped by early attachment or trauma, our work together will be grounded in safety, compassion, and deep respect for who you are.

My name is Priya Gill and I’m a integrative trauma therapist in Vancouver BC!

I am a daughter, niece, massi, auntie, bestie, pal, partner, student, and artist. I am bold, courageous, direct, fallible, clumsy, intuitive, and caring. I have a loud laugh and even louder personality. I am an outgoing introvert, deep thinker, avid reader, and am managing existential dread to the best of my ability. I love exploring subjects such as death, mortality, cults, gender, drag race, human s3xuality, and relationships with anyone who will entertain me.

Growing up as an only child of a single immigrant mother, I felt othered and struggled to find a sense of belonging. I grew up listening to Nirvana and also classical Indian music. I struggled to navigate bicultural identity and these experiences led me to having a deep appreciation for all creative forms of culture and self expression. I am drawn to people who see life through unconventional lens. People who march to the beat of their own drum, who live boldly, authentically, lead from the heart and who have a whole lot of AUDACITY. I know little me would think that adult me is hella cool today.

I would love to know a bit about yourself! Comment below if you feel inclined ❤️ by @hellopriyagill

Tips that can help you make therapy work for you ✨

1) Be intentional! Some questions that can guide you are:

* Where and how do I feel stuck in my life?
* What is holding me back?
* What do I want to let go of?
* What have I been resisting?
* What makes me afraid?
* What changes do I want to make?
* What do I want to forgive?
* What do I truly want?
* Who am I?

2) Take time to reflect upon the time we spent together. What showed up for you? What were some insights and experiences that stood out for you? Things you want to return to, follow up with, or what simply didn’t work for you

Journaling can be an incredible tool to use for this process.

3) Integrate Your Insights. Integration is the process of making sense of and incorporating the insights, emotions, and experiences gained into one’s everyday life. The goal is to bridge what we unpack and uncover in therapy with your life outside the space, allowing for personal growth, healing, and a deeper understanding of one’s past and present. by @hellopriyagill

Each of us carries the legacy of our childhood —whether in our unconscious, through vivid memories, body-based sensations, and emotional-felt sense of what it was like to be a child. These early experiences continue to influence us often in subtle and powerful ways.

Some people are able to grow from their inner child, transforming past experiences into personal growth and healing. Others may live in a more dissociated state, needing to disconnect from these early parts of themselves as a way to survive or cope with what was happening to them, and around them.

For many survivors of childhood trauma, a part of the inner child remains frozen in time. This becomes apparent when we are triggered—reacting not from our “adult self”, but from a younger, reactive, and vulnerable space within. In these moments, we may regress or respond in childlike ways, especially in close relationships. Feelings of fear, sorrow, guilt, terror, anger, or rage may surface unexpectedly.

Once we understand the patterns we carry from our personal and multigenerational history, we can begin to free ourselves from them. Healing your inner child can become a foundation for profound transformation.

That’s a wrap for the Equinox iteration of @ritualanddose ✨ A dream @adri.lovesyou approached me with last spring. Over the year we came together to intentionally create a trauma informed protocol that centres creative liberation and embodied artistry. A protocol that balances structure and flow state, intuition and embodied safety, plant medicine and innate wisdom.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who came. Thank you to the space that held this ritual - @aostudio.space

Deep gratitude and honour to María Sabina 🍄. To the unceded lands we seek healing on. To the plant medicine that guide all who participated. It is a true honour to hold space and gently guide folks on their unique path to self discovery. I am forever a humble student❤️

Much love

A soft place to land. Yesterday we hosted the second @ritualanddose and we’re feeling so grateful.

Being together in ritual and in creative community feels like an honest way to care for each other.

This practice invites self discovery to the parts of us that seek a greater landscape to be expressed.

Like a radio dial, like the unraveling of our inner seeker, like the duality of our parts of discovery, like the great artist that is being validated to come alive.

Thank you to the artists that came and shared. Thank you to the land for being our wise teacher 🍄

Our last Ritual&Dose at @aostudio.space is on Sunday May 25th at 10am

Ritual brings ceremony to the spaces in between, giving the opportunity for intention to what is present and transform with the energies that move us.

Our trauma informed container is an invitation to move with the gifts of somatic art and self processing. The option to bring a micro dose ps!l@cyb@n as a guide.

Find a soft place to land. Come as you are. Transform in community.

With the recent events of the tragic events at the Lapu Lapu festival, we are opening one free spot to each upcoming ritual. If you feel like this art practice can support you please email us at [ritualdose @ gmail dot com]
