A space for musings, memes, & reflection @southasianhealingcollective 🪷

Well-being and mental health are not commodities.
They are shared practices—something we return to, a remembering from within.

I have sought spaces where culturally rooted and informed practices are centered, and these have been pivotal to my healing. These spaces offer room for release—a place where I can let go of pain and embrace vitality, connection, and eros. My healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it unfolds in relationship, through ritual, and in reciprocity.

Many of our traditions, rooted in holistic community care, were never meant to serve the ego, materialism, or become marketable trends. In fact, they were designed to help us mindfully examine these very desires and support us in realigning with what truly matters.

These practices were created to nourish communities, honor ancestral lineages, and foster embodied interconnection—within ourselves, with each other, with the lands we live on, with the Earth, and with the cosmos.

I understand—we live within a capitalist paradigm, and that’s unlikely to shift anytime soon. We need to earn a living to survive (and, hopefully, to thrive). But when materialism and aesthetics sell at the expense of diluting meaningful practices, we lose something sacred. In that spirit, @southasianhealingcollective is my way of uplifting kin and creating space for reflection, reconnection, and remembering

Anxiety is a natural experience that has permitted our species and ancestors to survive. It is a wise experience that deserves respect and compassion. By befriending it, we will begin to understand its edges, its textures, how it shows up, and how to be gentle with ourselves. With compassionate curiosity, we can explore how past experiences may have fractured our internal understanding of safety and security; and dig into the relationship between trauma and anxiety. Priya will lead a conversation about mental health and community care. Her approach to understanding anxiety is rooted in an understanding of trauma, neuroscience, and the mind/body/spirit connection. The conversation will center around better understanding the impact of chronic and persistent stress and its relationship with trauma energy. Priya Gill is an uninvited guest on the Indigenous territories belonging to the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
