Had a lovely time at my order an object appointment at the V&A last week. you can pick 5 objects from the archive and the team will organise a date to visit them in person.

I was interested in seeing textile pieces to understand historical techniques and materials - but realised when I was there how interesting the objects are in relation to one another. It was incredibly moving seeing a stitch from 1000 years ago, the closest thing to time travel!

Here is my selection;
1. Hat, ad1000, Egypt
2. A pair of pockets - 1760, silk, UK
3. Bed cover 1600, India
4. Bed cover 1830-1869, cotton, USA
5. Bed cover, 17th century, cotton wool, portugal

Thrilled to announce our upcoming group show Piecing at Garage Gallery!

Piecing is a collaborative, textile-based show, an ode to memories of stitches, using what you have and building connections between layers of material.

Garage Gallery is located in Walthamstow, E17, 10 minutes’ walk from Walthamstow Central tube/train station.
 Nearer the time we’ll provide a link so you can book your free ticket, and address details with the booking confirmation.

I’m excited to announce the release of Kardashians A Critical Anthology, published by Routledge @routledgeart . My essay, ‘Keeping up with the past, present and future: How the Kardashians sustain relevance by manipulating reality’ is included within it!

Immeasurable thanks to the best, Meredith Jones @profmeredithjones , Kath Burton @three_simplethings and Donna Lee Brien, without whom it wouldn’t exist. They made the whole process of being a collaborator wonderful. I’ve included photos of all the chapters because they sound so interesting, I can’t wait to read it.

Memory has become an interesting research topic for me in recent years and something I’m keen to explore further. In this essay I think about how the Kardashians create longevity through memory and timeline manipulation, creating space for the hyper real to thrive.
