If you all are able to get to @thesalonny next week check out the @wexlergallery booth (c2). I’ve got a piece in there called “The Challah Lamp”. It’s an earlier piece that I made in my first little studio in LA. I get nostalgic looking at it and am happy it’s getting its moment.

The @wexlergallery booth will also be packed with some of the most incredible designers and artists including @richardhaining @dannybalgley and @wilenjong among others. by @helloshapiro

I’ve been experimenting with pieces that force me to slow down my process and step off my hamster wheel of production.

I love producing the squiggle and splat series but I am also interested in new production processes that let me incorporate more detail.

I’ve been working on this series for the last two years with mostly failures and recently some wins.

I haven’t named the series yet but have plans to build it out into its own body of work. by @helloshapiro

We’re pleased to share “Beyond Boundaries: Wexler Gallery—Twenty-Five Years of Shaping Contemporary Collectible Design”, a new feature by Benjamin Genocchio for @incollect. The article looks back at the gallery’s evolution over the past 25 years, highlighting our commitment to artists and designers working at the intersection of fine art, craft, and collectible design. Thank you to Benjamin and the Incollect team for this thoughtful look at our history and the artists who continue to shape our program. by @helloshapiro

On view in the side gallery, “Daniel Shapiro: Form in Play” showcases a selection of functional works that celebrate the artist’s playful approach to clay. Based in St. Louis, Shapiro brings a background in graphic design and art direction to a studio practice that bridges art and design, translating graphic ideas into tactile, three-dimensional forms. Characterized by bold silhouettes, unexpected shapes, movement, and humor, his lighting and furniture challenge conventional ideas of function while remaining deeply rooted in utility. Since discovering clay in 2017, Shapiro has developed a distinctive visual language that balances sculptural expression with everyday use, creating objects that are as joyful as they are functional. by @helloshapiro

MAKING A SPLASH @helloshapiro

The Splat Lamp embodies ceramist Daniel Shapiro’s process-driven approach to design. Hand-built as a single piece, the shade and base are layered with catapulted stained clay slips and finished with hand-painted 24k gold overglaze, creating a surface that feels both deliberate and unexpectedly dynamic.

New side table and the first piece of a new body of work! by @helloshapiro

I’m so excited that @wexlergallery included two pieces of mine in Salon Art + Design at Bergdorf Goodman for the Spring 2026 exhibition. It’s on view from now to May 10th on the 7th floor loft. Shout out to @themattharrington who captured the space beautifully! @bergdorfs @thesalonny by @helloshapiro

The Squiggle Table by Daniel Shapiro transforms clay into movement. Hand-built in the artist’s St. Louis studio from a single ceramic tube measuring over 30 feet in length, the form winds and loops before firing, then is reinforced internally with resin to achieve remarkable structural strength. Standing 21 inches tall and supporting a 23-inch walnut top, the work balances engineering and spontaneity, where sculptural gesture becomes functional design.
Working primarily in clay, Shapiro approaches furniture through the lens of his two decades as a graphic designer and art director, translating line, rhythm, and play from screen to object. The resulting pieces feel drawn in space—tactile, expressive, and animated with humor and motion.

On view now in our NYC gallery. The Squiggle Table is available in a range of finishes and custom sizes, with commissions open. by @helloshapiro
