Let's dive into the two new releases from @hellosolenne Chelsea Mourning and Young & Defiant that were so graciously sent my way to try.

Solenne is an indie perfume house led by founder and perfumer Alysia VanDerHart whose goal is to create minimal, timeless scents connected to the natural world. The scents are crafted in small batches by hand and began as a search for clean fragrances while facing an autoimmune condition and became a true calling to create.

I absolutely enjoyed trying out both of these fragrances, which are available as 10ml travels and in gorgeous 50ml glass bottles with a magnetic wooden cap. Young and Defiant with the petrichor, orris and violet stole my heart but I would definitely grab both of these!

Young & Defiant
A bright fizzy opening of aldehydes and pink pepper with a soft but earthy edge of petrichor to ground it. A twinge of mineralic musk mingles with the tannic and acqueous black tea and dewy violet leaf. The hinoki and ambrette add a really nice drydown that has almost a slightly musky and fruity touch. The scent has a great duality of bright and playful with moody and cool.

When you want something different to stand out that encompasses both the bright and the melancholic with a little bit of an earthy edge. Imagine a bit of garbage's only happy when it rains playing in the background as you smudge your eyeliner, lace your combat boots and head to St Mark's place for a nose ring with the boy your parents warned you about.

Chelsea Mourning
Rich and juicy opening of blood orange and black currant is tart and eye opening. The darker, syrupy nature is perked up by a little black pepper and softened with osmanthus and a playful hint of tart rhubarb.

This scent plays with the duality of a bittersweet moment, bright and warm but with a little spice and tartness. One complements and rounds out the other creating a really nice olfactory balance. The opening perks you up with the bright fruity-floral quality but it transforms into a bolder bit of warm strength from the tobacco, saffron and suede in the base. This is a scent I would reach for on days when I needed a little lift and a bit of reassurance. A beautiful fragrance for t by @hellosolenne

Here’s a few quick updates about all the exciting things that are happening right now!

Young & Defiant + Chelsea Mourning are now available! Thank you so incredibly much for all the love you’ve shown them so far and for everything that’s to come! We are so deeply proud of this release and can’t wait for you to sniff and enjoy these fragrances.

Our Christmas release from last years holiday season, Masło, has made it’s return as well! It’s been slightly tweaked this year with the addition of a gorgeous sesame absolute that I believe really completes this scent.
