Next show: 17th October with @coastisqueerfest

Video Description: The corner of a warm lived in home. Stacked white cupboards with an overgrown monstera plant that reaches out towards us. Various brick-a-brack around its large green pot, including a trans flag sweatband and orders of services from funerals. A small white marble effect side table with a pink and blue fancy wine glass atop is on the left, next to a black empty chair. EM, a black light skinned person enters and sits in it. They have their usual short “black” and sides skin fade with some edgy line designs that is matched in their eyebrow slit, and wear a fluffy oversized teddy bear hoodie that’s zipped up at the front, showing a pastel pink heart outlined in pastel blue. by @hellothemwilliams

🏳️‍⚧️✨ Being who you are should be the simplest thing in the world.

🌍 It isn’t anyone’s identity that makes the world difficult to navigate. It’s the structures, expectations and assumptions we build around people, the ideas about who we’re supposed to be, how we’re supposed to live, and where we’re supposed to belong.

💭 I Was Always Here asks us to strip those assumptions away.

🏳️‍⚧️ To look beyond cisnormativity and heteronormativity.
💜 To make space for the people and stories that have always existed.
📖 To celebrate trans+ lives not as something new, but as an inseparable part of our shared history.

✨ Because trans+ people have always been here.

🎫 TICKETING UPDATE 🎫
Performances at @mayflower.studios are now ON SALE!

📅 29 & 30 August
In association with @southamptonpride and @beyondreflectuk

🏳️‍⚧️✨ “All the times you see yourself feel like the first time.”

This @southamptonpride at @mayflower.studios were celebrating the trans+ lives, stories and influential figures that history too often leaves unspoken.

I Was Always Here, from Theatre For Life in collaboration with Beyond Reflections, is an electrifying journey through trans+ history, from pioneering medicine and 1920s speakeasies to gothic literature and the 90s club scene.

Blending music, cabaret, digital storytelling and real-life experiences, our LGBTQ+ company celebrates those who came before us, those creating change today, and a community that has always been here.

A show to make you laugh, think and, most importantly, feel hope. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🩷 🩵

We’re back with some more information on the Extraordinary Acts Fundraiser Cabaret, which will be kicking off our Trans Pride Weekender next Friday 17th July!

Extraordinary Acts was initially a zine project to raise money for trans healthcare fundraisers, but has also become a semi-regular cabaret night which is hosted by local performer and artist Emma Frankland!

In addition to showcasing incredible queer art and poetry in the Extraordinary Acts zine (which will be available to purchase on the night) we have a scorching and truly extraordinary line up with drag, songs and cabaret!

First on the line up - their first time performing in Brighton -Daddy Pecs brings you the perfect blend of wholesome and hot daddy energy!

Then we have EM - a Black, Queer, Trans, Disabled theatremaker, specialising in physical theatre, aerial circus, and ensemble. (Their poetry is part of the EA zine!)

Joining for the second year running is the legendary Mzz Kimberley! Her work spans film, theatre, fashion, music and panel events consistently amplifying marginalised voices within the trans community.

Also performing for the first time in Brighton and all the way from Germany is Ronnie Manta - a Hamburg based Drag Performer who switches between hyper masculinity and glittery femininity on stage. Always a little silly but with a great portion of charm!

Finally Brighton legend Vlad Von Kitsch is a genderfluid demon doll reclaiming the beauty in the monstrous. Cry, laugh, scream in terror as they serve their unique brand of horror and humour with a generous helping of punk energy. This creature is sickening in every sense of the word.

Extraordinary Acts is a ticketed event so make sure to book in advance (pay what you can donations). Link in our bio.
It will take place in the upstairs theatre which is only accessible by a staircase.

We’ll be sharing more information about the whole weekend and other acts in the coming days!

Tomorrow @brighton_dome

I’ve been invited to share some golden words in @erinenfys Disabled and Disobedient for their summer edition. Chuffed. And with some absolute legends.

An action shot of me, EM, a black light skinned non binary person with what I call a short black and sides, a black and white T-shirt split down the middle and a cheeky slit in my eyebrow as I use my hands in front of me, index and pinky resting against each other as I make a point with an open mouthed expression.
My image has a graffiti spray effect around it, with a spotlight orange semi circle burst radiating from the bottom of the frame, fading out into a maroon background. @brighton_dome ‘s logo is in the top right corner and in the top left white text reads: “I’m performing at Disabled & Disobedient in various fonts and highlights. My preferred zoom meeting spot.

Thank you @queer_ranch_festival and @magic_nights_queer_film - the first time feeling like I was actually leaving home rather than returning to it. Thanks for @genderror404 for getting this cheeky shot of me and my beloved. Taken at @rock_ink_skalaeresos

Thank you for all of those who enabled me to create a space for the Ranchers of Colour community. Watch this space. Bring on next year. by @hellothemwilliams
