“If” by rudyard kipling is one of the poems I was assigned to memorize in 6th grade. over the years, I found myself recalling different sections so often that I realized it’s become somewhat of a compass for me without even meaning for it to. as we got ready for sam to come into the world, I knew that so much of this poem is what I want for him to believe about himself & the world.

this picture is so special to me because a print of the poem is in the background. it feels so appropriate that my dad is standing in front of it - to me he represents the heart of it beautifully. as does benja. 🥹 this year, I have also gotten the privilege of seeing benja become sam’s dad. I feel so proud and at peace that Benja represents so much of what it means to be a good man and a good person. Sam has soooo much to look up to, and I do too ⭐️ by @hellothisisrachel

first days of motherhood with mr. sam!

just now coming out of the deep woods of postpartum - the trial and error, the witch hazel, lanolin, three brands of diapers. the first post-hospital shower and first trip out of the house. the changing 3 newborn onesies in a day (that I can’t believe already don’t fit.) every new day is a sigh of relief that we made it this far and a small sadness that he’s already grown and changed from the day before. soaking this mom thing in as much as I can 💛 by @hellothisisrachel

my lovely sister @emily_schick_ and our families made us feel so loved by throwing a shower for us last weekend!!! so many thoughtful and fun details (like a dirty soda station……. brilliant) :’) so grateful for the family members who traveled in to help us prepare for baby’s arrival 🥹

after, we somehow piled allllll our family into the ultrasound room at @nashville4dbaby to see baby’s face together on the big screen (where of course I cried)

he is going to be here so sooooooon ahhhh!!! we are so excited 🩵 by @hellothisisrachel

you will have to forgive me becoming very into quotes recently!

here is some life lately. pregnancy has been tough on my body. I have lots of energy, but some pesky pains are limiting me doing much in this last trimester. but baby boy wiggling around feels more exciting every day, and I am reminded I am not doing nothing! far from it. here are a few scattered scenes that have made the days brighter 💌
