Dog mom guilt settling in because I have done a total of ZERO things for Halloween for Harvey (or myself). I’ve at least put out some fall decorations around the house! Hoping to channel some actual fall weather here in SoCal because I’m so over this sunny and 75 weather. Harvey and I are ready to get back on the trail for some hikes for our favorite hiking weather! Itching to get outside more often! by @helperharvey
Rain in San Diego?! Weekend is ruined. Just kidding, we had bouldering and tennis planned for the day but I’m not sure Harvey minds this cozy cuddle worthy weather. The first time we went bouldering with Harvey outdoors, he did not like me climbing up those rocks. Poor pup was anxious every time and barked when I was too high off the ground. With some additional exposure and reassurance, I think he’s getting the hang of our climbing adventures. I was hoping to get him outside with us more frequently when we’re able to stay in town to climb. But Mother Nature had other plans. May be time to bust out some puzzles, for both the doggo and the human! by @helperharvey
I can never get enough of these fall colors! We spent the week leaf peeping in Stowe Vermont and the White Mountains in New Hampshire. The Kancamangus Hwy did not let me down this time! Worth the drive!! #leafpeepers #stowevermont #fallfeels #whitemountainsnh by @helperharvey
Is flashback Friday still a thing? Because I’m so late on sharing these memories from this adventure last month. My belay partner. Got to top rope in JTree! Since it was so hot still in Sept, we did a split full day and got to see the sunset on our last climb! The face of pure joy and exhaustion. Taking a moment to enjoy the view. Def deserved that one. This overhang 😮‍💨 My fingers sure felt decomposed after gripping these rocks. Don’t let these photos fool you, I’m faking it til I make it The approach. It wasn’t pretty doing this lean with barely any foot holds but had to reach the anchor! And look at JB’s beta and how easy he makes it look 😅 Here for the views. Let me tell ya, a 5.10A outdoors is not the same as indoors and phew this one almost had me. Again, not pretty in any way and I struggledddd. But hoping to look back on these in the future and smile at how far I’ve come in my climbing. I was barely doing a 5.9 indoors this time last year and I sent a 5.10D indoors the week before this trip. A little improvement! A sport I’m just okay at 🥹 Not worth showing again, whoops. Our airstream during our Auto Camp stay! Harvs had the best time of all! Even spent some time around the fire pit. Somehow organized the weekend for the friends group to all stay at the AutoCamp. Goal: visit each site location around the US! We were pooped. Harvey had the comfiest spot in the airstream by @helperharvey
It’s was all floof. -Harvey, probably. We’ve been very intentional about Harvey’s food intake the last few weeks. Adding in shorter walks throughout the day since it’s somehow still summer here.. Happy to report, he’s five lbs lighter! Whether it was the haircut, or reduced caloric intake, we will never know 😅 Grateful for all the recs! His senior lab panel came back with all good news. Hoping he lives another 8 years! Which btw, baby boy turns NINE next month. HOW 😭 by @helperharvey
Our trip to North Cascades National Park feels like it just happened and yet it’s been almost three months, how?! We spent two days (not enough time imo) exploring some of the trails in the northernmost part of the PNW, and it did not disappoint. Other than the fact that it rained on us in the middle of the summer 😅 These were some of the prettiest trails amongst some towering peaks. We definitely need to explore more! Friends! For a short 72-hours, @stio is giving our followers a 30% off discount on their gear!! Perfectly in time with for those fall weather activities. Pictured here, the UPF lupin hoodie is just right for SoCal hikes which are still warm enough and sunny. The Pinedale pant is always my go to. The new Pinedale Roam pant which is a boot leg style, I get in the regular length but the Pinedale pant with the elastic tightening bottom I prefer in the short length! Let us know if you have any questions on sizing! Special promo code is F2630-JENNIE Happy adventuring! #lettheoutsidein #northcascadesnationalpark #stioaffiliate #bluelaketrail #pnwhikingadventures by @helperharvey
Quick trip to the mountains, they were calling. Squeezed in some bouldering, sleeping in the dirt, Crunchwrap supremes, dog romps, catching up with some of our fave dog friends, and firepit moments. Packed our crash pads and found some routes on Mountain Project in Idyllwild County Park. Put my new Pinedale Roam pants to use and the vescent hoodie to block the strong UV rays that were blazing here in SoCal lately. Shop the look: @stio | HelperHarvey #lettheoutsidein #stioaffiliate Happiest boy loves climbing rocks too. Romps with Reefy 🥺 Sleeping bag calls for a cozy night Camp days with the best pack. We live for moments like this. Our happy place Name something better. by @helperharvey
Let’s just say, someone was v excited to get out and about this weekend after his procedures. Harvey is healing up nicely and is ready to go camping this weekend! We’ve been slacking on our nights spent under the stars but intend to make up for it over the next few months! It’s been so humid here lately that a fresh short cut was much needed for this dood. I can’t tell you how much dirt and burrs get stuck in his longer coat. Now we can cuddle up in our tent, the whole fam is stoked! What are your plans over the long weekend?? #dogsmiles #happydoggo #sandiegodogs #hereforthedoods by @helperharvey
Baby boy needs a haircut.. and to lose some weight… I’m embarrassed to admit this. But Harvey has gained some significant weight for his size this last year.. He was 52lbs for as long as I can remember. This is a culmination of a variety of things, but now that he’s getting older and moving less, I realized a little too late that I needed to decrease his food intake for his decrease in calories burned throughout the day. We are still doing two daily walks and fetches, but with summer heat, no hikes for us.. his poor joints. Goal is to lose 5 lbs. we’ve started to decrease his daily meal intake, about 1/2 c less per day, decreasing treat frequency which are only single ingredient. Any other tips or things I should be doing for my aging boy? 😭😩 by @helperharvey
Amaze Amaze Amaze Holy bears. This adventure to King Salmon and Katmai National Park was everything I ever dreamed of and so much more. From our float plane, to bear school, to walking the platform of Brooks Camp, and wading in the rivers just mere feet from these beautiful creatures. A bucket list adventure for the books. Pictures and videos don’t do this park justice. Not the easiest place to navigate to, requires multiple transportation steps to get to this remote area of Alaska, minimal accommodations and food options; but incredibly worth every second spent planning and every dollar spent going. Shared my top photos from the trip but I still have dozens of videos I never got around to sharing. It’s been a month and still can’t shut up about Alaska. If you have been and are thinking about it. This is your sign to go! #brooksfalls #katmainationalpark #fatbearweek #brownbears #lettheoutsidein by @helperharvey
Glaciers galore at Kenai Fjords National Park! Kayaking just half a mile away from a glacier and watching the glacier calving, unforgettable. The half mile distance is to ensure our safety should sizeable waves occur from the parts of the glacier that fall off and into the ocean water. These bays are filled with a wide variety of wildlife, we got to see humpback whales, dalls porpoises, sea otters, horned puffin and tufted puffin, seals and sea lions, and flocks of flying birds. Yes, I’m still slogging thru photos and videos to share. The reality of life is that I rarely have time during the day to get on IG and when I get home, I don’t want to be on my phone. I need both hands to cuddle Harvey and play fetch with him and take our walkies. So these are still slowing coming out because they need a forever place on here. Our coldest and wettest day in Seward but made the most of it! Stayed dry and warm with @stio raincoat, water resistant pinedale pants and Turpin fleece sweater! Use code HelperHarvey to save 💚 #kenaifjordsnationalpark #stioaffiliate #lettheoutsidein #glacierkayaking #glaciercalving by @helperharvey
Still the center of my universe 💚 Harvey continues to get endless attention from all his humans, daily walkies and fetches, and more time cuddling. But our usual activity levels are changing. This summer has been a humid one, not much hiking and more time spent indoors or in shady areas. Plus, Harvey seems to be slowing down a lot more lately and we’re just taking his change in energy and activity level in strides. I’m still not used to this whole “senior” dog era that we’ve entered 🥺 by @helperharvey
