Thought it's time for a short intro about me and my work 🦋😊.
Glad to meet you! 🌸
.
I'm Henrik, living in Austria - and wildlife and the small world occupies most of my photography. Bokeh plays a big role in many of my photos.
I've started with travel and landscape photography like many others.
Photographing wildlife has been always fascinating me - and here I could work on a recognizable style together with my significant other. It was always important to us to keep post processing at its lowest - also to comply with the rules of nature photo competitions.
When taking photos of the small world filling the negative space around the subject with an abstract version of its habitat is a goal - to increase nature's delicacy and fragility, but also its beauty. The look is achieved through camera techniques and it needed years to get there.
.
Makes me happy that my view on the world finds some appreciation - though this is not my driving force.
.
Awards:
National Geographic Germany 2018
Amateur photographer of the year 2017
Outdoor Photographer of the Year category win (small world)
Several IGPOTY placements (top 3)
ND Awards and Tokyo International Foto Awards: category wins/placements
Mention of Honor in MONTPHOTO
and several more by @henrik_spranz

Some words about processing…
.
I thought that some of you might be interested in what I’m doing in my post processing and how the photos look right out of camera as a RAW image.
.
Almost all of my photos comply with the strict post processing rules of nature photo competitions.
That’s fine with me as I like to catch the moment on location.
.
It’s forbidden
⍟ to remove or manipulate elements of the image (removing, cloning, blurring) - besides removal of sensor dust or cropping the photo.
⍟ to excessively process the whole or part of the photo (for example fake colours or using filters).
.
Usually they ask for your RAW file as proof and you will be excluded from the competition if your photo violates those rules after checking the RAW.
.
So the photo just undergoes a RAW development to fine tune it.
.
What I do is:
⍟ Some basic RAW adjustments in LR: white-balancing, correction of exposure, sometimes de-haze and cropping
⍟ De-noising (I’m using Neat Image @neatvideo) in Photoshop
⍟ Work on brightness, tonal correction, sharpening and sometimes dodge & burn in Photoshop
but NO alteration or removal of image elements or retouching - the BOKEH is untouched
.
To get photos on location like this taught me a lot of patience and thoroughness 😄.

I love to visit this gorge in Austria during #autumn.

It's known for its reddish water - especially after heavy rain falls (caused by iron and humic acid).

Sometimes I love to play with existing light - here also reflections in the waterr of a stream in the background - together with some glass and other accessories to achieve something different. It's like knocking on a door to another world.
