HEALTHCARE’S NEXT BIG BREAKTHROUGH WILL NOT COME FROM A LAB.

It will come from someone who lived the problem.

For decades, healthcare innovation focused on two things:

• Scientific evidence
• Clinical expertise

Both matter.

But there is a third force rising fast.

Lived intelligence.

This is the insight you gain when you sit in the waiting room.

Jessica Chalk built MyStoria after facing infertility and fertility treatment herself. She became her own care coordinator. She saw gaps. She built a platform to fill them.

Rachel Bartholomew founded HyIvy Health after going through gynecological cancer care. She improved pelvic health tools which had not changed for centuries.

Bob Millar created Paige to help seniors stay connected with family. He saw how isolation hurts older adults.

Jacqui Murphy built Elderella after helping aging loved ones navigate eldercare.

Nancy Corcoran launched AskAyla after raising and advocating for her disabled granddaughter. Five years inside the system gave her insight no dataset holds.

Rebecca Lyons started HerSay after seeing how women’s health concerns get dismissed.

And I created AskEllyn after my breast cancer diagnosis.

Today AskEllyn supports people in over 100 countries and more than 50 languages.

If you have navigated illness, caregiving, disability, aging, or recovery, you see what others miss.

Most systems ignore lived intelligence.

What problem have you lived through?

What gaps did you see?

What would you build if you trusted your experience as data?

The next wave of healthcare innovation will not start in a boardroom.

It will start with someone who says,

I went through this.

It should work better.

Rebecca Lyons talks about the importance of simply starting something you want to pursue, especially when starting HerSay. Entrepreneurs who doubt themselves should simply start, as we are always focused on executing everything perfectly; it is key to simply start our journeys and figure things out along the way.

Your pelvic floor does more than you think. Not only does it support your bladder, uterus, and bowel, it also plays a key role in core stability, sexual health, and everyday comfort.

For women, awareness is especially important due to life stages such as menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, all of which can affect pelvic floor function. Understanding the signs and caring for this often-overlooked muscle group can help prevent issues like pain, leakage, and discomfort.

Awareness is the first step toward better health, because feeling “normal” shouldn’t mean feeling uncomfortable.

We are thrilled to be featured in the latest edition of @unumco Unison magazine!

We’re in Unum’s Unison Magazine! 💖

We talked about the stat that started it all (89% of women have felt dismissed at a medical appointment 😳), why we named the app HerSay and how we can help you walk into your next appointment feeling prepared instead of unheard.

Our favourite line from the feature: “A GPS doesn’t drive the car for you. HerSay works the same way. We’re giving women the tools to navigate their own healthcare with confidence.”

Women’s pain is real, but too often underestimated or dismissed. The gender pain gap isn’t just a statistic; it’s a lived experience. It’s time for care that listens, believes, and responds better.
