It’s kind of hard to control with one hand. I just got the MPC Sample yesterday. Playing around with the factory sounds today and figuring out the MPC workflow. It’s great to be back in hardware after 23 years. I should have for this a lot sooner. #Mpcsample by @herbiehowser

Souls of Mischief, Tha Pharcyde, and Cypress Hill live at the State Theatre in Detroit on April 23rd.

Cypress Hill has so many hits cotdamn. They sounded so incredible in this venue and their DJ killed it. It was great to see Bobo and Sen Dog as well. I saw them back in 1999 on the Smokin’ Grooves tour. BReal needs to get way more props for his contributions to the culture. He killed it live. They played everything I wanted to hear except Pigs and Hole in the Head, which is a super minor complaint and really just personal opinion.

For the Pharcyde, it was great to see Fatlip back in the group but it’s too bad Bootie Brown wasn’t there. I saw them back in 2000 right after Fatlip left. Anyone know if he’s not in the group currently or if he was gone for some other reason. Hearing Runnin’ on that system was amazing. That Stan Getz sample beat drop intro hit like a ton of bricks. I’m glad Fatlip told the DJ to run it back so I got to hear it twice.

Souls killed it as usual. This was much more subdued than their 30 year anniversary tour last year but they still brought it. I liked the way they did ‘93 a little better than the last time I saw them. I still really want to see a full Hiero tour and was disappointed no one else came with. Back in the day I saw Casual and Del at St. Andrews and the whole crew in Grand Rapids.

My only complaint is that most of the crowd seemed to only be there for Cypress Hill, so they were a bit low energy before that.

Props to Cypress Hill for that show and for bringing two of my favorite groups with them. I’m really glad that I decided to make the trip out for it.

Casual’s Fear Itself came out 30 years ago on February 1st, 1994. Although it took me months to finally find a copy. This is the first album that had me going to multiple stores and trying to order it.

I’ll be performing in Ypsi at The Love Stand (315 N River St.) on Friday night at around 9pm. It’s a free outdoor show with Messi J & Codini, SDB, and myself. Come on out to celebrate Hip Hop’s 50th year if you’re local.

And then I’ll be seeing @soulsofmischief at the @blindpig_annarbor on Saturday night on their epic anniversary tour. It should be a dope weekend.

Dope show by the Athletic Mic League at the A2SF tonight. Not a lot of Hip Hop shows in Ann Arbor so it was a pleasant surprise. They ripped it. I’m pissed that I haven’t heard about them until now.
