Meet the panelists featured in our upcoming public art event, From Muralismo to “The Midnight Ride” ✨

Join us on Thursday, October 15, to hear 2026 Dewey Square muralist, Rixy, and projection artist, Pamela Hersch, in conversation with Ché Anderson, Chair of Mass Cultural Council, and Liza Quiñonez, Executive Director of Street Theory Collective. Together they’ll explore the relationship between large-scale public murals and thriving democracies. This artist panel will kick off a 6 month nightly projection onto Rixy’s “The Midnight Ride,” bringing the mural to life in Downtown Boston.

Enjoy music from @oyadethedj and live band @fmcollective, grab a bite from our food trucks, and be one of the first to view the new illumination of “The Midnight Ride.”

💚 We hope to see you there!

Rixy (@rixyxir)
2026 Dewey Square Muralist

Rixy (b. 1995, Roxbury, MA) is a New England-based artist whose work celebrates surrealism, social connection, and collective imagination. Across stylized murals, sculptures, and paintings, Rixy draws upon her contemporary heritage and ancestral Caribbean diasporic roots to create complex, richly speculative worlds layered with visual narratives and mythical femme characters. Her bold, visionary large-scale public murals energize walls across Boston, Cambridge, Lawrence, and beyond.

Pamela Hersch
Projection Artist (@herschvisuals)

Pamela Hersch is a Mexican visual artist working in projection mapping, motion design, and interactive installation. Her work turns light into something physical, bringing static surfaces into motion and making familiar places feel new.

Hersch has a particular focus on animating murals in close collaboration with the artists who made them. She created projection content for Rob “Problak” Gibbs’ 2022 Dewey Square mural “Breathe Life Together” and Jeffrey Gibson’s 2024 Dewey Square mural “your spirit whispering in my ear,” extending each work’s color, pattern, and rhythm into movement. Her large-scale projections also include “Float” at Boston’s Government Center and the Boston Marathon Light Up the Night pr by @herschvisuals
