This week we are throwing it back to the first ever mural projection at Dewey Square 🌟

In 2023, visual artist Pamela Hersch (@herschvisuals) and multidisciplinary design team Studio HHH (@hhh_designstudio) created a new media work to activate Rob @problak Gibbs’ “Breathe Life Together” mural. Cosmic and musical elements visually flowed throughout the artwork, amplifying ProBlak’s signature style. By animating the 2022 Dewey Square Mural through projection, this project established an innovative framework for collaboration between muralists and new media artists.

Now in 2026, the Dewey Square Mural will be activated again with a new projection work by Pamela Hersch onto Rixy (@rixyxir)’s “The Midnight Ride.” 💫

🗓️ Join us at Dewey Square on Thursday, October 15 from 5:30-7:30pm for the artist panel and projection premiere event, From Muralismo to “The Midnight Ride.” This event will kick off a 6 month nightly projection onto Rixy’s “The Midnight Ride,” bringing the mural to life in Downtown Boston.

Rixy (@rixyxir)
2026 Dewey Square Muralist

Rixy (b. 1995, Roxbury, MA) is a New England-based artist whose work celebrates surrealism, social connection, and collective imagination. Across stylized murals, sculptures, and paintings, Rixy draws upon her contemporary heritage and ancestral Caribbean diasporic roots to create complex, richly speculative worlds layered with visual narratives and mythical femme characters. Her bold, visionary large-scale public murals energize walls across Boston, Cambridge, Lawrence, and beyond.

Pamela Hersch
Projection Artist (@herschvisuals)

Pamela Hersch is a Mexican visual artist working in projection mapping, motion design, and interactive installation. Her work turns light into something physical, bringing static surfaces into motion and making familiar places feel new.

Hersch has a particular focus on animating murals in close collaboration with the artists who made them. She created projection content for Rob “Problak” Gibbs’ 2022 Dewey Square mural “Breathe Life Together” and Jeffrey Gibson’s 2024 Dewey Square mural “your spirit whispering in my ear,” extending each work’s color, pattern, and rhythm into movement. Her large-scale projections also include “Float” at Boston’s Government Center and the Boston Marathon Light Up the Night pr

I couldn’t have had a more perfect and intimate closing for Cultural Apothecary than serving the Golden Root elixirs that have been infusing inside the cabinets over the past 18 months to you, my local community and family inside and outside the museum, who have infused me with so much love and support. Thank you!

Happy 250th! 🎇

We’re heading down to the @esplanadeinboston to enjoy @thebostonpops celebration at the Hatch Shell, and remembering our installation, Hatched!!

🤔 Deeply inspired by the musical history and impact of the landmark, we were so honored to created this project for our city

Today, a heat wave, then, the dead of winter. In all seasons, a space for collective enjoyment.

One last song for @solidsoundfest.
S’always a good time at the @theairportrooms, but this Sunday’s After Party was extra special. Dear friends, delicious food & drink, Beatles karaoke, a Strawberry Moon (and no rain!) made for an epic wind down. Big joy all around.

Beyond grateful to our vendors and sponsors for helping us pull it off and to @wilco @solidsoundfest @massmoca @highergroundmusic for all this wonderful festival does for the community of North Adams.

Oh how amazing it was to be back in Boston for the last few weeks working on Black Swan! I can’t wait for you all to see this show, this is truly a special one.

Thank you to our incredible music team @davemalloy, @kevin_leahy, @jasonweisinger, @cmkeelan, @myohmilahenry, our entire orchestra, and to @ormatias for bringing me along for the ride.

I made an insane amount of origami swans, and ate enough Mike’s Pastry cannoli to last me ‘till next year. Until next time! 🦢
