27 weeks 🥚 , in the process of launching an album @hesterullyartmusic which is gonna be on the 13th Nov @lytteltonartsfactorynz (come? : D), first single is out btw, hope you’re not feeling spammed to death #fastromance
currently organising some beautiful ideas for the live show & @instantfantasy is supporting, you will love her

doing a crazy music/theatre show with @freetheatrechch Thurs/Fri/Sat (this week) (come ? : D) #DaDaHonkHonkTheDryCleaningofPereUbu 🎶

then in Amberley this Sunday for the #WritersTeaParty where I will do some poems and have some lovely chats 🫖

BUT today I have a headache that won’t leave & whilst I’ve been v lucky with my energy so far am feeling like a wilted balloon on a fence post carrying a small cartwheeling elephant so have allowed myself a day off working at the bar (thank you @_commoners_ )🍷 & any socials & can do things like post this & say hi to you guys

great news everyone is that I bought an cherry red 80’s silk dress from #LoveMeAgainVintage in Opawa (highly recommend) after my midwife appointment because I wanted to & nothing fits, & can walk around ‘like a pregnant ghost’ according to my partner, (box ticked) & I am surrounded by great books from writers that I know because I am lucky & we are so lucky here in Ōtautahi/ŌhinehouLyttelton & they just keep writing them

This Friday 02/10 we release #FastRomance into the world. It’s the first single from an album I have been making for a little while, as some of you may know. Thank you for coming along for the early ride if so! #hesteridaandthemusic is now #hesterullyart - returning back to simplicity of my given name feels like the right thing to do for longevity into the future, sometimes you have to go away to come back.

also to @ryan_fisherman for his engineering work during the recording (& encouragement from the start back in 2021(?) when I tentatively approached him with my songs), to @willmcgillivray of the amazing @yourgoodwill who joined me earlier this year to mix our live recordings into something even more special.
Thank you to @calebmacdee for capturing & documenting the process & for helping me to design the beautiful artwork you’ll see soon.

Some works take time, this warranted time. It took a lot of returning, from poem to melody, from private to public, with gaps in-between while other work comes in, saving money, having patience, being curious, developing the sounds and the feels in the room with these amazing musicians, sometimes waiting just for feelings to pass, for bravery to step up & shine out.

I was grateful to receive a grant last year from @creativenz ‘s early development fund, this allowed me to make the final album you will hear.

It costs money to make art, & a lot of my own funds have gone into the process over the past while. Which is my choice. It’s just good for context as sometimes when things take a while it’s often because the artist is saving up to make the thing.

Anyway that’s some background history. On Friday you can just enjoy the first song & the other info that will arrive with it. Let’s go!

The album is a testament to getting the all clear, whatever that means to you, however long it takes.
