Sewing brings me joy especially when I come across a look that inspires me. Took a few days off from work last week to mentally escape and reignite my creative juices. Fell in love with this dress a while back and knew I could make it. I absolutely love the finish look. Just waiting patiently for the right belt to arrive. A full day’s work. 8 hours of self care and I love it. When I see bold ankara fabric, my math brain 🧠 goes in overdrive. Took me 2 weeks to decide on how to highlight this beauty and I am in love. Hem and buttons left and I plan to rock it before the end of the month.

I used almost 6 yards of fabric with enough left over to make a belt. Bodice is @simplicity_creative_group #S8014 and I self drafted the skirt.

So proud that I tacked yet another button down shirt and plan to add the buttons this week. After using the seam ripper a few times, I am glad I persevered to the end. Still not sold on this pattern sleeve cap fit but a girl plan to rock it at least twice for BLACK HISTORY MONTH. I will share some mishaps in a blogpost soon. I absolutely love the fabric and can’t wait to style it. Have a GREAT WEEK!!

Don’t wait until you retire to plan that trip, book it now and go. I have been wanting to go to D.R. For a long time and have been procrastinating. Decided in June I would go. I absolutely love sewing dresses. So glad I am able to step out of my comfort zone and sew for a few local clients this year. This one is for the books!!!! One of my best made garment to date and it fits her like a glove. I am now ready to add buttons after her final fitting.

Happy Sunday! Lost my creative juice and came back from Spring BREAK vacation feeling inspired. Took a trip to my island home 🇯🇲and felt inspired to finish this set for my next trip. Happy first day of February!!!! Kicking off my favorite month of the year with my first CLIENT project of 2023. I am so excited to sew my favorite fabric (#ANKARA) all month long. I TYPICALLY sew a new Ankara look each week during February but in 2023 I am sharing and spreading love by creating pieces for a few LOCAL CLIENTS. PSA PSA !! Don’t forget to intentionally support a black owned BUSINESS OR CREATIVE not just in FEBRUARY but all year long and be EXTRA THIS MONTH TOO.

Happy Saturday all!! When I came across this top and saw the price for $150 on SALE I knew I could DIY it. Found a shirt in the men’s department at @macys for less than $30 and bought some ostrich feathers and went to work. Took about 30 minutes and voila!!
