Small moments. Lately. ✨ by @heynicolesimone
A little look back at a very special weekend in Alentejo: celebrating and participating in the harvest, doing a little grape stomping, enjoying slow picnic lunches, and more. We had such a beautiful weekend filled with gorgeous wines, traditional Alentejo food, beautiful spaces, and plenty of really true moments. This is what The Saudade Life is all about: traveling a little deeper and getting beyond the obvious to discover stories: our own and those of the people and places around us. Consider this your little preview, as I’ll be sharing more about each day and each experience soon. by @heynicolesimone
A couple weeks ago, I was invited by @olena.wine.experiences and @enopoint to spend the afternoon celebrating the harvest at Quinta São João Batista, a centuries-old estate tucked into a natural reserve in Torres Novas. It was an afternoon filled with Tejo wine history, traditional Portuguese food, wine (of course), garden strolls, and games, including a very competitive round of “musical chairs”, but with wine bottles and wine boxes instead of chairs 😆 I’m ok saying goodbye to summer when autumn days look like this. by @heynicolesimone
Sometimes I forget how ridiculously pretty my little corner of Portugal is. Then I go for a walk and accidentally take 87 photos in under an hour. by @heynicolesimone
The first ever Jerk & Wine Festival in Portugal may have come, slated, and gone, but we’re not done yet. 🇯🇲🍷 If you were there, you already know. If you missed it, well… you’re already late! We suggest you don’t make that mistake twice. 😉 We have plans for the next Jerk & Wine Festival, and the best way to find out when we announce it as well as what we’re cooking up, is to join the list. Head over to jerkandwine.com and be among the insiders who will be among the first to know. We’ll see you at the next one. by @heynicolesimone
Cuisine Noir (@cuisinenoir_) recently published a feature, beautifully told by @ashiaaubourg, on the first Jerk & Wine Festival (@jerkandwine) in Portugal. What started as a conversation between me and @latoyanhamilton in Portugal about food, wine, culture and community turned into a day that brought together people from Jamaica and across the Caribbean, Portugal, Africa, Brazil, the USA and beyond. One of the things we shared with Cuisine Noir: “The more we talked about it, the more we realized that Portugal and Jamaica have so much in common. They may be on opposite sides of the world, but there’s something about the soul of both places that feels incredibly similar.” Thanks, Ashia and Cuisine Noir, for telling the story so beautifully. The first one was just the beginning. Read the full story at cuisinenoir.com or via the link in my bio. by @heynicolesimone
