︎︎ 　 UFC featherweight fighter Giga Chikadze was born in Georgia and began karate at a young age. He later moved to the Netherlands, where he debuted as a professional kickboxer, then traveled to the United States with one goal: to fight in the UFC. After many hardships, he achieved his debut and went on a winning streak. Three years ago, a devastating injury led to defeat, and recently he suffered another loss in his comeback fight. Just three days later, I met him through US Gouki MMA Yamamoto Shōhei Branch Chief. Though battered and exhausted, he spoke honestly about how years of fighting had broken his body, reminding me of the brutal reality of the UFC. When we shared the philosophy and techniques of Goukikai Bujutsu Karate, his expression brightened, and soon we were exchanging techniques right there in the restaurant. Karate is clearly his origin, and I strongly felt his resolve to continue living as a martial artist. He showed us his soon-to-open GIGAKICK Gym and spoke passionately about his vision. When I asked if he would fight again, he answered with sharp eyes, “I will fight. I can’t end things like this.” Without words, we embraced—two martial artists connected by the same path. 　

︎︎ 　 　 The Four Absolute Conditions of Goukikai Bujutsu Karate • To perceive the emergence • To perceive the opponent’s intention before it arises • To command the ma (the interval and distance) • To enter into the opponent Each of these states lies beyond the explanations offered by conventional mechanics or sports biomechanics. In this realm, mass and gravity seem to shift, and space time becomes absolute—phenomena that can only be interpreted through quantum physics and quantum mechanics. Yet the masters of old attained these states and preserved them as esoteric principles. The accumulation of those principles is what we call kata. In other words, kata is a tool that enables a quantum leap in combat—from the physical domain into the quantum domain—and kata must embody that very function. This is the path of Gouki Quantum Martial Arts. 　 　 　 #空手 #karate #剛毅會 #goukikai #mma by @heyshowhey

︎︎ 　 At the UFC Gym in Huntington Beach, California, training sessions in USA Gokikai Karate are being held. Branch Chief Shihan Shohei Yamamoto, who conducted instruction there for the first time, is a gifted karateka who has been active in this area since childhood. About ten years ago, he transitioned to MMA and has since traveled between Japan and the U.S. to train under my guidance. A few years ago, due to injury, he retired from active competition and began a second career as an instructor. He has since become a popular local coach. While he mainly teaches kickboxing-based striking, he has incorporated the principles of Gokikai Bujutsu Karate into his instruction, which has been very well received. This was my first time teaching his students. Although many of them are not yet at the level to compete in matches, I could strongly feel their hunger for technical improvement — a very promising group for the future. When I think about Gokikai’s motto — “Aiming for the pinnacle of the world” — I can’t help but seriously consider that basing ourselves here, in the very heartland of MMA, might be the most direct path toward that goal. It was a small, yet significant first step toward realizing my dream of spending the final chapter of my coaching career in this place. 　

It’s from a while back in 2017 but I thought I’d post it as a reference for this particular technique. It’s not a jab nor a hook but its like a cork screw straight punch or “tsuki” for the correct terminology since its a strike from karate. And karate is such a broad terminology because there’s so many styles. This is a strike derived from roots of an older style karate using body structure by @heyshowhey
