The Bluenose of Lunenburg visits Lunenburg

Today we drove to Lunenburg to see the Bluenose II sail off into the mist. The vessel is headed to the Halifax Harbor to be docked for this weekend's sailing extravaganza.

As noted before we will be selling our brick built Bluenose kits at the Halifax Brewery Market on Saturday June 1st starting at about 8:00 a.m..

Come visit us and then visit the real vessel docked in front of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

The McLeobster 😂

I am planning to tear this guy apart to see if I can't refine it a bit, so I thought to share some pictures beforehand... Just incase it becomes a sandwich!

This brick-built Lobster was made for Bricks in the Six 2023, to accompany the life-size lobster trap that I crafted. It was a hit! I do plan to bring the refined version to @brickworld Chicago in June!

One Brick Cat, After Maud Lewis

*Studio Render*

This was a fun project for me to tackle. It is part of a proposal I had sent to @artgalleryns . I'd love to get one of my kits into the AGNS gift shop in celebration of Maud Lewis!

The fur on the cat, aka 'black wolverine claws' is an unfortunately expensive piece, so this design won't see the light of day (as portrayed), but I really like the look of it... So i thought to share!

Much of what I am working on is locked up behind closed doors, until eventual release dates... I wish I could share more!

Maud Kathleen Lewis (née Dowley; March 7, 1903 – July 30, 1970) was a Canadian folk artist from Nova Scotia.

She lived most of her life in poverty in a small house in Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. She achieved national recognition in 1964 and 1965 for her cheerful paintings of landscapes, animals and flowers, which offer a nostalgic and optimistic vision of her native province.

Several books, plays and films have been produced about her. She remains one of Canada's most celebrated folk artists. Her works are displayed at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, as well as her restored house, whose walls she adorned with her art. Despite her recognition, Lewis never had a museum exhibition, nor was her work collected by art galleries or museum during her lifetime.

Did you know I run BRICKSPLOSION?

For the past four years I have organized and facilitated Atlantic Canada's #1 LEGO Fan Event, aka BRICKSPLOSION.

My number one goal for the event has been to elevate the local builders... To put them on a pedestal... So they can show off to a local audience. As, well, people like Zach Steinman may be a huge deal in Germany, but locally, he is just that nice guy that runs a bike shop.

Trevor Pearson-Jones is a father that lives in Dartmouth, but internationally he is the wild and wacky builder Moptoptrev!

Zach and Trevor should be famous locally too, for their artistry! As should all the other amazing builders from the region, and beyond!

Last year, we had builders come from Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, all over Ontario, all over Quebec, and yes, all over the Maritimes! It was awesome. This year we will have a similar selection of builders, showing off their Brick-based Artistry. And yes, Zach and Trevor will be there too, showing off their best.

So, if you're local, please come see the show. Wear a costume and you'll get treats. If you're from away, find a nearby LEGO Fan Event, and see something amazing.

And no, it isn't called BrickExplosion, but everyone calls it that anyway.
