The internet may be a fun place to share our favorite memories and experiences, but with that fun comes with risk.

Online exploitation and AI-generated manipulation like deepfakes are real concerns for us all, but most especially our children.

This is NOT to shame parents that share their children online, but with the rapid advancement of AI, it is an important conversation to have. ➡️ What do YOU think about posting children’s faces on the internet?

It’s natural to want to compliment a child’s cuteness by saying “you’re so cute!” or “you’re so pretty/handsome!”

But since traditional compliments often center around physical attributes, inadvertently reinforcing the idea that beauty is the most valued aspect of a person.

As caregivers and educators, we have the opportunity to instill value outside of physical appearance to the next generation by choosing our words mindfully and embracing body neutrality as a guiding principle.

The cycle stops with us!

The Cornell 7 isn’t just an American problem. It could happen here and HAS happened here, to many women in varying degrees, without any media attention at all. Here, men can flee to other countries. Women stay silent to protect their identities, and justice isn’t served.

We need to do better for every woman who never got her story told.

And to those that think this doesn’t apply to them– may you never have to experience the heartbreak, grief, rage, and helplessness of going through this or watching a loved one go through this. But until that world exists, we all have a part to play.

Consent isn’t something you argue for after the fact. Real consent doesn’t need convincing. If you’re building a case for why it was consensual, then the person did NOT consent.

if you have to say “but they didn’t say no”, then that’s not consent. A yes is consent. Silence isn’t. by @hi.smithy

from someone telling you you’re pretty.

And then there’s the kind that stays even when nobody says anything.

When you don’t need someone to compliment your outfit to feel good in it.
When you can post the photo without checking who liked it.
When you can walk into a room without wondering if everyone thinks you look good.

That kind of confidence feels different.

Because it isn’t borrowed from someone else’s opinion.

It’s yours.

“Well what were you wearing?” or “Why did you allow yourself to be in that situation?” are not questions survivors should have to answer. Stop victim blaming. by @hi.smithy

For people that are scared to say NO, these are also good lines to use to let your partner know your boundaries.

What are other ways to say NO? Share them below ⬇️

I think we’ve made body acceptance feel like another thing we’re supposed to be good at.

*Love your body!
Love your flaws!
Be confident!*

But what if you don’t?

What if you still have days where you don’t like what you see in the mirror?

Maybe peace can be something smaller.

Getting dressed and not thinking about your stomach for the rest of the day.
Eating without feeling like you need to make up for it later.
Taking the photo even though you don’t love how you look in it.
Going out, laughing with your friends, swimming, dancing, living — without your body taking up the entire conversation in your head.

You don’t have to love every part of yourself to deserve a life that isn’t centered around fixing yourself. 🤍

What would making peace with your body look like for you?

I wish this was something more people actually followed.

If someone has something stuck in their teeth? Tell them.
If their zipper is down? Tell them.

But their weight? Their acne? Their stretch marks? Their body hair? The fact that they look tired?

Maybe just… keep it to yourself.

You never know what someone is already insecure about, and you don’t get to decide that your observation needs to become their insecurity too.

Not everything you notice needs to be said.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned that taking up less space was a good thing.

Smaller body.
Smaller appetite.
Smaller opinions.
Smaller presence.

And sometimes it gets disguised as being “disciplined,” “healthy,” or “more put together.”

But you don’t have to spend your life trying to become easier to look at, easier to love, or easier to accept.

You’re allowed to take up space.

Not when you lose the weight.
Not when you become more confident.
Not when someone else says it’s okay.

Now.
