There’s something powerful about the communities we build and the ones we’re born into. A support system isn’t always loud or grand , it’s in the simple things: a like, a share, a comment, a kind word. Those small actions carry weight. They tell someone, “I see you. I hear you. Keep going.”
For artists in the underground scene, the journey can feel heavy and unseen. Talent alone isn’t always enough to break through the noise. Without people showing up, engaging, and believing in the work, it’s easy to feel stuck in the shadows.
Supporting someone doesn’t cost much, but it can change everything. So if you vibe with someone’s art, don’t scroll past it. Engage. Speak up. Be part of the reason they keep creating.
We rise together, or not at all.

In solidarity with our sister Hibotep @hibotep who has been denied entry into Kenya despite holding a valid interstate pass and who has faced repeated humiliation at the Uganda-Kenya (Busia), we over at Pass Pass and No Visa have made the decision to postpone today’s event to a later date (tbc).

The Mist will still be open for gathering tonight with DJs @th3_doula @sigeisound and @aaronahalu holding us through the night with their music. For those who purchased advance online tickets, these will be redeemable at the bar.

It is ironic that Hibotep, a well-travelled and internationally known artist has been denied entry to Kenya on her way to supporting our programs which highlight these very same issues.

The unfair situation has left Hibotep feeling humiliated and distraught. She was left stranded at the border but thankfully R3igndrops remained with her for her mental and physical well-being.

Below are some words she wishes to share with us all:

“They always preach love thy neighbour. But I didn’t feel loved at all. I see our continent as part of my DNA from north south east west, all of it for me not to even enter my neighbouring country. Shows me how little I know of what unity means for us as Africans. I cried tears of grief and humiliation but I will not lose hope that this can change for the better, for all of us. I find it quite strange that I am being asked questions as a foreigner when people have travelled from further places. And they say “welcome”, but for me as an African, I get the end of the stick. I feel so empty and sad that people recognise my face and they say “I hope they don’t make you cry again ‘cause it’s been the fourth time we have seen you and your twin sister crying in this border.” - Hibo

This is not an isolated incident and it illustrates why our work to push for free movement for all is so important.

We will be sharing our updated programming soon. by @hibotep

This Saturday, freedom of movement! ✊🏿

Pass Pass [@passpass__] and NO VISA [@novisaparty] will be hosting a panel discussion to help deepen understanding of travel restrictions - an issue that affects thousands of artists and creative workers from the global south. Artists will share their own experiences and give advice on visa processes and working abroad: Olivia Ambani [@olivia_ambani], Alec Lomami [@alec_lomami], Ng'at Maler [@ngatmaler]; moderated by Pass Pass founder, Coco Em [@cocoem__] 🌐

After the panel, the movement continues on the dancefloor! Enjoy bass heavy selections from DJ’s who fearlessly cut across genres and borders: R3igndrops [@r3igndrops], Hibotep [@hibotep], Sigei [@sigeisound], Th3 Doula [@th3_doula], Alec Lomami [@alec_lomami] [STREAM], and Badman Bantou [@badman.bantou] 💥

Poverty is a not a marketing strategy that we should participate in , if your shit ain’t benefiting the people in the society stop using them as backdrop . They are not gimmicks in your content . Representing our pride our truth is not in taking the matter lightly . So many people have stolen so much that was intended for people by selling poverty . by @hibotep
