There's something about a Fall morning in the Pacific Northwest.

Hello October, indeed! More colors, more changes, to make room for new and more meaningful moments.

To me Fall has always read to me like transition. Not quite hot, not quite cold-in between. But nature likes this moment to show off how beautiful transition could be.

Change doesn’t always have to be hard. Sometimes it can be quiet and beautiful, too.

When thinking about your wedding, both the planning process and the wedding day itself, try to keep one thing simple:

Trust the team you hire.

I say this a lot, but it starts before you ever sign a contract.

When you meet with a planner, be open about what you actually need, what you expect, what you’ve already taken on, and where you may need help. Ask the questions. Share the concerns. Don’t hold back important pieces because you think you need to have it all figured out first.

That discovery conversation matters.

You may go into a consultation thinking Wedding Day Management is exactly what you need, only to discover that your wedding would benefit from more planning support. If your planner brings that up, ask why. Let them walk you through what they’re seeing that you may not see yet.

A good planner isn’t trying to make your wedding more complicated. Quite the opposite. We know where the gaps tend to happen, what needs to be decided earlier than you might expect, and what can become a problem later if no one is managing it now.

And once you choose your planner, let them be your eyes and ears.

Planners put an incredible amount of time, thought, and care into your wedding. We’re looking ahead, covering bases, communicating with your vendor team, anticipating problems, and protecting the experience you’ve spent so much time creating.

The best planner and couple relationships aren’t built on one person simply checking things off a list.

They’re built on communication, clear expectations, and trust.

As I reflect on my wedding season, I keep coming back to moments like this.

This photo was taken by me in the San Juans during one of my weddings this summer. It was a whirlwind of a season. So many moving pieces, long days, unexpected moments, and a whole lot happening behind the scenes.

And then, in the midst of it all, I received this email:

“I also want to compliment you and Jessica on a wedding well done! Some of us are still talking about it.

I am sure Barbie and Jake will look back on that day and the days surrounding it with such great memories.

It was a pleasure working with you.”

🥰

When you receive recognition like this, especially when you aren’t expecting it, it means more than people probably realize.

This one meant a lot to me.

At the end of the day, that’s what I want. For my couples and their families to look back and remember how special it all was. And to know that, somewhere behind the scenes, I helped make that happen.

Wedding Wednesday 🤍
