Last 2 Deadlift attempts by @kalani.higa today at the @usapowerlifting @highschool_nationals
The 363.8 lbs second attempt was a new meet PR for her. I was confident she would get that easy since she pulled 368 lbs in training.
But when she told me, "Let's pull 380 lbs" on her final attempt...IT WAS GAME ON🔥

She definitely had more in the tank. So it's encouraging to know that she can pull 400 lbs real soon. I'm so proud of her 9 for 9 attempts performance today. Proud Papa for sure here in Louisiana while her Mama @chellehiga was also cheering her on in the Pacific Northwest.
15 years old and putting up some huge numbers as a Sophomore in High School. Great things are in store for you babe!

Got a workout at @cpbarbellclub this afternoon. What an incredible Gym! Top notch equipment, super clean and everyone was awesome!
Even met a girl from Sammamish, WA who's a member of the club that's a student here at Cal Poly.

Huge thanks to the owner @tarafiedfitness for letting me drop in. You need a place to train while in San Luis Obispo, California? Come over here. It's open 24/7‼️

Just because I'm a #Powerlifter doesn't mean I don't work my #CORE

4 sets total
10 seconds each.
This Plank series was done after 25 resist a ball Crunches. So 100 crunches total + 4 minutes of Planking.

This is the reason why I do so much beltless training as much as possible. So that my CORE can handle lift and heavy weights.
Don't let the non-existing six pack Abs fool you.😆

You'd be surprised how many people run our Red STOP paddles when loading or unloading students.

Our entire Tahoma School District fleet is now fitted with Cameras that will conveniently mail you a large Fine.
The safety of our students and our 🚌 is important. Don't be an impatient driver. Leave earlier and be safe on the road for you and others. 💯

"Pull for The Cure" means everything to me.
It's a chance for me to reflect on how my wife @chellehiga and other women affected by Breast Cancer are so much STRONGER than me.

No matter what, obstacle or long days I have in life... It is nothing compared to what these women have endured.

405 lbs + 300 lbs band tension at the top with my @xbandstraining @mr.xbands
No belt of course, at 55 years old.

Participants can DL any of the weights below:
* 135 lbs for reps
* 225 lbs for reps
* 315 lbs for reps
* 405 lbs for reps
* 500 lbs for reps
* 600 lbs for reps

Conventional, Sumo, with or without Straps, Stiff bar, Deadlift bar or Trap bar allowed.
It doesn't matter because it's a fundraiser 💕

This was one of the highlights of my trip this past weekend at @mrolympiallc

Got to meet the #Legend @pauljleonardplusa 🙏🏾
What's even more crazy is that he told me he was honored to meet me finally in person.
He saw me walking into the Expo and came up to me to introduce himself.

This man was part of the process of my journey into the sport of #Powerlifting
I told him when I was living in Hawaii, I had a monthly subscription to Powerlifting USA. And every month I looked forward to seeing what the Contest results were, or the latest training routine of the month was, or to just trip out on the @inzeradvancedesigns Ads with Anthony Clark reverse Benching 611 lbs.👀

Humbled to hear him say, "I can't wait to watch you lift today!" To hear that from a man of his stature in our sport, meant a lot.

Paul has every Powerlifting USA magazine ever printed‼️
All 420 issues that began in 1977 and sadly ended in 2012.

He achieved great success in Powerlifting, and then gave back to the sport by writing articles for Powerlifting USA as well as other publications.

Fun Fact:
Paul placed 2nd overall in the "1995 California State Powerlifting Championships" and pulled 644 lbs, 683 lbs and then 705 lbs to beat @mikeohearn and place 2nd overall to Steve Denison.🔥 That was the biggest Deadlift of the entire meat that day.

Thank you for having a great conversation with me on Saturday before my contest, Paul. This is something I will never forget, and I look forward to having more conversations with you in the future.
