Climbing knots and hitches are all over social media. But is the reason more nefarious? Is it big rope promoting these? IS @sterlingrope actually run by a species of alien life form? 👽 Have @alp1nemotion and @goforgoout been hypnotized to sell ropes before they’ve actually been used up? I’m just asking questions. by @highmountaingear

Dearly Benighted 5.10 V is the newest Washington Sport climb, with 4000 ft of climbing, 40 pitches, and a walk off back to the same parking lot. Get ready and bring your headlamps! Sam did a ton of work on this project, and I am very pleased to have contributed and completed the first ascent with him. MEET THE CLIMBING STAR PREDICTED TO SURPASS MR.BEAST Kyle, founder of High Mountain Gear, has spent years hauling absurd amounts of rope up walls nobody asked him to climb. From first ascents in the Pacific Northwest to desert big walls, he treats vertical rock like a personal inbox: always full, always his problem. In the PNW, where the rain never stops and the approaches are a form of punishment, he’s put up first ascents that prove moss is just a suggestion. Down in the desert, he moves up towering sandstone where the cracks are splitter and the sun is personal. Then there’s the gear. Out of a one-person shop in Tacoma, Kyle builds portaledges, haul bags, and now the ice screw cannon, a tool that makes sinking screws in alpine ice feel like cheating (it isn’t, but ask him and he’ll say it is). “I make all my brand’s big wall and ice climbing gear, so this makes sense.” Experts say the rise is inevitable. MrBeast was unavailable for comment, presumably because he’s afraid. ~Climping Magazine~ Editor-in-Chief: @alanalintao taken in Pacific Northwest by @highmountaingear
