👀Come check out the wonderful FREE Disney exhibitions on display at the Hilbert Museum just a short 10 minute drive from Disneyland.

This is a great addition for anyone who is in town during D23 next week. Pop over for this FREE offering.

Right now they have an exhibition of more than 50 original drawings and storyboards from Danish-born Jorgen Klubien contributed character animation to
classics such as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Mulan, A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc, Toy Story 2, and Cars (for which he also wrote the original story and screenplay).

Plus, they have multiple concept paintings from Mary Blair on display right now including artwork from “it’s a small world”, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan.

The Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University, in Orange, Calif., was founded in 2016 by art collectors and philanthropists Mark and Janet Hilbert with their gift of artwork and funds to open a new museum, and is home to one of the world’s largest collections of California narrative art. FREE Disney + Pixar art exhibit just 11 minutes from Disneyland! 🎨✨

The @hilbertmuseum in Orange has an entire exhibit dedicated to Jørgen Klubien, the acclaimed Disney and Pixar animator and storyboard artist who helped bring your movies like The Lion King, Nightmare Before Christmas, Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story 2, and so more to life. He even co-created
the original Cars storyline!

The exhibit features his original storyboards, character sketches, and behind-the-scenes artwork, including storyboards from The Lion King’s iconic “Be Prepared” scene!

It’s only on display through November 1, so you have just a couple more weeks to check it out.

Admission is completely FREE, but reservations are recommended.

I visited during Disney Fan Day, a special event hosted by @hilbertmuseum and @mickeyvisit, and it was the perfect way to experience the exhibit 🎨 Here’s to many more to come!

Gavin Doyle has made a career of guiding people through their Disney Park visits, as the founder of Mickey Visit, a Disney travel site that features news and tips designed to help park-goers “save money, experience more.”

One hot tip Doyle gives to those visiting Orange County for a Disney trip is scheduling a stop at the Hilbert Museum of California Art in Orange.

On Oct. 15, the Hilbert Museum and Mickey Visit are partnering to co-host the first-ever Disney Fan Day at the museum.

“It’s really exciting to get to bring some of our Mickey Visit audience to the Hilbert, to bring more awareness to it among Disney fans who are already coming to the area,” Doyle said.

How have movies shaped LA—and how has LA shaped cinema? 🎬

Join film historian and Chapman professor John Trafton for a reading, Q&A, and book signing celebrating his new book, Los Angeles and Film: A Cultural History of 20th Century Hollywood. Moving across a century of filmmaking, Trafton explores the intertwined histories of Hollywood and Los Angeles, examining how cinema has transformed the city's landscapes, architecture, communities, and cultural identity into one of the world's most recognizable—and endlessly reinvented—screen environments.

The evening will include a reading and conversation about the book, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Afterward, audience members are invited to view the California artwork in the museum’s North Galleries.
