Week three is a wrap, and our Teen Summer Fellows are officially in final-presentation mode! Next week, each Fellow will present their N. Dash: Geophilia artwork analysis to friends, family, and the entire Hill Art team.⁠

This week's research adventures took them to the Lower East Side Printshop (@printshoporg), where they dove into the art of screenprinting and printmaking, and to Sotheby's (@sothebys), for an inside look at 250 Years of American Art & Culture and the new Botero exhibition. Thank you to Kyung and Rosa from LES Print Shop and the Sotheby's team for making our visits so special! ⁠

The Fellows also wrapped up their poetry book project, binding their very own copies by hand. We can't wait to see everything come together next week! 🎨📚⁠

The Hill Art Foundation is excited to announce Thucydides Fever Dream, curated by Xin Wang. Opening September 16, 2026, the exhibition is accompanied by a curatorial essay by Xin Wang and a booklet designed by Studio Pianpian He and Max Harvey. The exhibition will be on view through December 19, 2026.

Curated by Xin Wang, Thucydides Fever Dream traces the hallucinatory cadence of history as manifest in multiple facets of contemporary Chinese life, culture, and geopolitical relations, be it to the West (ancient and modern), the former Eastern bloc, Central Asia, or Africa. Just like this year’s improbable social media trend of Chinamaxxing, China’s recent fascination with Greco-Roman classics as both statecraft (Xi’s evocation of “Thucydides’s Trap” during Trump’s 2026 visit to Beijing) and vernacular metaphor (young people referring to adulting struggles as their “Odyssey era”) illustrates a perpetual dynamic, where any self-fashioning–and indeed self-knowledge–is forged through other(s), in porous and often adversarial relationships. Drawing from the Hill Art Foundation’s own collection that already constellates art-historical connections across space and time, the exhibition brings together loans as well as fresh debuts to invite collective speculations—not only on the trajectory of China, but also on what is shared, what is selectively remembered, and what resurfaces and haunts—ghosts and algorithms alike.

The Foundation will host an opening reception on Wednesday, September 16 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m.

This week, our 2026 Teen Summer Fellows kicked off the program with a tour of our current exhibition, N. Dash: Geophilia, followed by a poetry workshop led by poet Emily Moore (@outcomeongoing). ⁠

On Tuesday, the Fellows visited the 2026 Whitney Biennial for a tour led by Valentin Concha-Nunez (@valentin_tintin_). They continued developing their creative and final projects on Wednesday before joining @diateens at the Hill Art Foundation for an inspiring career panel featuring Tony Pettis, Riley Yuen, and Isabella Choi. The artists shared invaluable insights into building careers in the art world.⁠

We closed out the week with a visit to MoMA PS1's Greater New York exhibition, wrapping up an exciting week of art, conversation, and creative practice. by @hillartfoundation

RCU_25 is hung across two walls in the Hill Art Foundation’s central gallery. In the portion bridging the walls, styrofoam has been placed behind the canvas as an added layer of protection against the sun and heat. ⁠
⁠
Styrofoam is normally used as an insulating or protective material, used in packaging and shipping to keep objects in place and away from the elements. N. Dash typically uses styrofoam as a material within the paintings, however, in this application, the artist also returns to the material’s utilitarian roots.⁠

The Foundation kicked off an incredible first week with our 2026 Teen Summer Fellows! We began Monday with an introduction to our current exhibition, N. Dash: Geophilia, followed by a visit to the @guggenheim on Tuesday for Carol Bove's retrospective. Wednesday brought hands-on creativity, as our fellows crafted their own Bove-inspired clay sculptures and began their poetry book projects. Thursday rounded out the week with a visit to the Dia Art Foundation's Earth Room @diaartfoundation and a tour led by @cinocalvino at the @newmuseum. Stay tuned for more!⁠
