MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING: RAPE. This is imperfect, but I pressed record because I need to find a way for this rage and grief out of my body and this is a start. #survivor #survivorstory #cornell #iamjanedoe taken in Los Angeles, California by @himacwatson

In July 2023, I’d been working as a VFX/visualization coordinator for almost a year when I was asked to coordinate a new project we were starting previs on. The debut entry in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, a little movie called Superman. I’d never been particularly invested in comic book stuff and I’d never seen a Superman movie. But that summer was crazy - the industry was shut down with double strikes and I had to renew my O1 visa, so Superman was going to keep me both employed and in this country. Then I got to read @jamesgunn’s vibrant, vital, earnest, funny, weird, and big-hearted script and I knew I was very lucky to be a part of something really special. Seeing a year+ of work come to life on the screen last night was honestly indescribable 🥹🥹 Our team worked on probably 75% of the movie and I’m so proud of us. One small piece of a gigantic movie-making apparatus. Being a note-taking fly on the wall in meetings witnessing @jamesgunn’s vision and leadership changed me, and I took what I learned to my own film, inspired and ready. I’m beyond proud to have spent a year on this beautiful film. I’m in post on @lastlaughafilm, but will be looking for my next gig soon! Hire me as a VFX coordinator, post or production coordinator, producer, and of course I write, act, and direct! Anyway. Thank you Day for Nite for bringing me onto this project and thank you to my amazing DFN friends, special s/o bestie @alyssa__foster for keeping me (somewhat) sane, to the amazing production VFX team led by @stefceretti, and the Universe for this. Look Up ❤️💙✨ taken in Los Angeles, California by @himacwatson

A handful of men have likened my hair to Medusa over the years. I don’t think they meant it as a compliment. I can’t think of a higher one.

This summer almost took me out, ngl. But I’ve felt the sun on my skin and swam like a mermaid in the Pacific in two different countries and few things make me feel more alive 🌊 taken in Kitsilano Beach by @himacwatson
