3rd place 🥉 at @transmadeira 2025 autumn edition in M30 category! Thanks @leo_kokkonen and @suvaloop31 keeping company on the faster-than-usual transfers and all the tips and tricks leading to podium!

6 days of enduro racing on Madeira island and Porto Santo. 250km route and 15k of downhill. Regardless of weather, the bike worked perfectly. Zero issues with body, only slightly sore legs on the last mornings. Sleeping and focus were by far the hardest things.

Having a bit of pressure from the rankings was a completely a new experience. Then after couple of days, the two gurus @endurosteve and @mylesbaldwin_ rode soo much harder consistently, that there was no room on 1st and 2nd place and I could relax. Respect guys! 🙇

Was so cool to meet all the new people from around the world, and as always, to live the event life with the Jyväskylä-Muurame group 🎉🙏 I so appreciate to be part of this group 💛 Yet again this event was the highlight of the year with you.

Those 10 days were so much fun, more fun than anything else; the adventure, the riding and of course the people. So much looking forward to what comes next and where to get with all the new contacts.

"first stamps of the day" - was actually more like 4 😂😂 describes the heat treatment already at half way.

The initial plan was to collect all tentacles well within the timelimit, and perhaps even climb some extra for 5000m just because..why not 💁🏼‍♂️ but that kind of heat I've never faced before to this extent!

The first 4 hours went quite easy, like a regular fast paced ride, but then the workload and low cadence started to set in by introducing small cramps. Following 3 hours were spent with focus on steady pacing, salty snacks and trying to eat even if it was more than just unpleasant, mostly due to overheating. At a steep windless uphill section we just had to stop next to a river to soak ourselves, which helped immediately. Then being late from schedule for the last climb we thought we missed the stamps, but decided to complete the route anyway. Even if was almost too much at this point already. The last hill was as big of a battle mental as the rest combined. Neverending steep as f*** gravel uphill under merciless sun and barely no wind was a huge struggle.

What a pleasant surprise and relief it was to find the people at the top service station still there, with the stamper 🙌 The goals were now completed! I almost burst in tears from the exhaustion, but still making it. The way down was equally challenging in the not-so-lucid low energy state. What an adventure.

A very late post in the heat of the summer:
27.4.25 skitour to Bishorn stays as a happy memory!

Adventured to Bishorn beyond 4100m was really testing the limits on snow, even with prime condition we had. Thanks to this amazing group of people @mkijas @una_tr @flocremasco! For sure wouldn't have made it without. I still don't know how I managed it down that icy wall 😂 and the boot march at the bottom felt like forever. by @himohenkka

Swiss Enduro Series '23 #1 Airolo completed! This was an important first race in Switzerland, as I was completely new to how races are operated in CH and travelled solo. Met Michael, Daroll and Lucy, which made the weekend so much better!

The conditions were ideal and bike worked very well. Trails were much easier than anticipated, perhaps not playing into my strengths, but it also made the race quite fun.

Fitness level was again lacking, as was the case in all previous races. Placed 28 out of 69 in master men category. Biggest slowing factor being forearm endurance and second vo2max.

So many other thoughts and experiences will remain in memory. Looking forward to next events! (Laax and Transmadeira). by @himohenkka

May 25, 2024. What a challenge! The idea was incepted by @bobjakovski with a some jokingly hints to participate a gravel event @likaanenlakeus. Unable to fly to participate I still wanted to do something of similar effort on the same day.

And what an adventure it was.

Preparation took way too long the day before and the sleep leading to the 4am start was short. The preplanned route made Garming edge boot-loop every 10 minutes 😂 spontanoues plan B was to just look for road signs towards the bigger cities, since there was 400-500k to cover anyway, so taking one or two wrong turns wouldnt hurt.

The day flew past quick, legs were good, tummy complied, no chafing, no rain, occasional sunshine and decent wind. Had company for 4 hours, which felt like a blink of an eye. (Thanks Lyle!)

Then came Konstanz around 240km. Mind started getting lazy and I got stuck in traffic while looking for a meal and a store which didnt have 30min queue. Same thing what always happen in Konstanz.

At 280km 2 hours shy from sunset, I figured a big mac is the last meal of the day (apart from 8 gels and energy bars) while passing the golden arches. The energy dense meal really helped both mind and body! 😂

I found amazing views and mood from the empty streets and fields around St Gallen, hoping that no cramps appear. Passed a fountain around 310k, which made me so happy to have full water bottles again. Enjoy the small things, right?

Then the sun went down and cold night air fell in. I was still in totally new territory. At a point, I didnt see a single light apart from my own for an hour, was freezing at an altitude and hungry, had low battery and didnt know where I am. A different kind of fear that I dont remember experiencing. Then there were the uphils I was sure I didnt plan. Without a knowing another way around, just had to climb. At least I got warm.

Then the downhill finally started, carefully steering in through the dark roads. The air started warming. I finally could see some street lights in the horizen. The downhill continued (it was ~30 minutes down but felt like ages in the dark 🤷🏼‍♂️). So happy of to be under street lights 🙌 by @himohenkka

Ahh brings back memories 💫 Found a few start numbers from here and there while packing/moving. Should have kept them all and should have written pre/after thoughts behind each one 🤩 Lucky to have been able to participate and to meet all the people while racing! by @himohenkka
