“Latine.x curatorial practices and accessibility: fabulating belongings”

Panel: “Latine.x curatorial practices and accessibility: fabulating belongings”
Intertwining curatorial practices engaged with Latino and Latinx communities and accessibility, this encounter fosters fabulation as an epistemological framework in contemporary art. How can a Latine.x curatorial gesture embody difference, entangle kinships, and enact affective care within the relational cartographies of art institutions across the Americas?

As a confluence of pivoting approaches, this dialogue bridges a conversation among leading institutions in Latin America and in the US, featuring curators from MoMA PS1 (US), MALI (Peru), MAMM (Colombia), MASP (Brazil), Whitney Museum (US, NY), and MOLAA (US, CA). Through this exchange of experiences in transforming spatial, material, and narrative strategies, we are invited to cultivate collective resonances in nurturing belongings for dissident bodies and subjectivities. As panelists also address the challenges of implementing these shifts, potential alliances and collaborative practices emerge to be woven to navigate the new paradigms of contemporary art.

I’m v excited to share that I’ll be joining the @whitneymuseum curatorial team this month as the next Rubio Butterfield Family Fellow 🥲 getting the chance to support the work of Latinx artists at Thee museum for American art is my wildest dream come true, admittedly still unbelieveable. Can’t wait to get started and drink up all the knowledge sure to burst from these next couple years.

As my time at @jamescohangallery comes to an end, I’ve wanted to share about an ongoing project I was lucky enough to develop alongside Jim Cohan and the incredible @vianycorg team. The Granny Square Workshop is a crochet class that serves as a safe space for new New Yorkers to learn a creative skill and build new avenues of mental wellness and community.
