Sometimes I see a book title and feel compelled to know more. The book that had me searching this time is THE PARTY IN THE WOODS by @fiona.mcp 👀

My reaction to the title was: oh, that never ends well for the characters in the book. Don’t go into the woods!

The reader side of me is pretty excited because it sounds good. Here’s the copy:

Annie Fagan, one of Ireland’s first female electronic DJs and producers, spent her early twenties hosting and playing illegal raves across Ireland. Part of a legendary free party crew, she was surrounded by loud music, beautiful people, and the alluring chaos of the dance floor. But after one of their huge parties in the woods, Annie’s friend Seán disappeared without a trace, and Annie gave up that part of herself for good.

Years later, when Seán’s body is discovered in the Dublin mountains and new information about his disappearance comes to light, Annie reunites with her old group of friends―led by Fran Baker, the man she once believed she was destined to end up with―and feels inexplicably drawn back into the scene. Annie―and the police―starts to realize that, far from a tragic accident or random misadventure, Seán’s death must have been caused by someone who was at their party. Someone who had a motive.

One of her friends.

As Annie investigates, her new and old worlds clash, another old friend is silenced, and she realizes that some people may not want the mystery of Seán’s death to be solved. In fact, they might do anything to stop her from discovering what happened that night, when the party truly ended.

The book comes out November 10th but you can preorder it now!

We’re in Vancouver, in part to enjoy a bit of fall weather. The trip also has book writing purposes. More on that later. 🤫

Yesterday we visited Bowen Island. So pretty. It’s going to be hard to leave here. by @hkdimon

On Saturday I usually post about an upcoming book that piqued my interest. Today, I’m reminding you that my thriller novella, HE HAD IT COMING, is out in audio and ebook. Subtle, right? 😘

This is about revenge and accountability and the depth of a sister’s anger. I love Sabrina’s sarcasm and her belief that justice doesn’t have a deadline. I hope you’ll give it a try!

Stumbled into @indigo after a day of flying yesterday and saw this!!! I remember being stunned when my editor told me PRETTY LITTLE WIFE, my debut thriller, was the staff pick of the month. Yes, I cried. I’m still so grateful. ❤️

Some books take longer to figure out than others. HE HAD IT COMING is a novella, shorter, so it should have been easy, right? No.

I knew the basics of the story but something was wrong. It turned out to be the setting. Originally, the book took place in a warehouse and I couldn’t get the pieces to work. Then I moved the book to a yacht and the whole thing came together in my head.

Thank you to San Diego for being stunning and inspirational. Thank you also to @jaywhyem for taking off that day and driving me to Point Loma. 😘
