Well… 3 weeks, a lot of support, and a lot of sweat. We somehow brought together friends and family from all over the world—not just to celebrate our love for each other, but our love for life, for adventure, and for every single person who was there with us. Every couple faces challenges. We have, and we continue to face one that will bring a lot of pain and grief for one of us. But we don’t want to spend whatever time we have focused on the inevitable. Instead, we choose to find joy in the small things, to seek out adventure wherever we can, and to rest in the safety and comfort of each other’s presence. We don’t know how much time we have and sometimes, that’s okay. We’ve learned to live each day as if it were our last, and not to put off until tomorrow what can be lived today. We choose to laugh. To smile. To embrace whatever comes, together. And I don’t regret, for even a second, staying for the Guinness three years ago. Our little life is almost perfect. Our wedding day was perfect, the joy and love in the air were something you could truly feel. For one weekend, we were just a normal couple, celebrating our dream wedding under a beautiful sunny sky. I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better. Last Saturday I got to marry my other half, my best friend, and the love of my life @jbv_on_tour . 🤍 What unfolded over the weekend was more beautiful than I ever could have imagined — from the family welcome dinner, to the wedding day itself, and finally a slow and joyful Sunday brunch together. Every moment felt full of love, laughter, and the people who mean the most to us. The most unbelievable part? The entire wedding was planned in just three weeks. Somehow, everything came together so perfectly that you would never have known. Every vendor, every decoration, every tiny detail looked exactly how I had envisioned it. One of the most meaningful parts of the day was getting to wear my mom’s wedding dress, lovingly altered into a more modern style. Carrying that piece of family history with me down the aisle made the day even more special. 🤍 We are endlessly grateful to everyone who helped bring our dream wedding to life. We cannot begin to thank our wedding party and officiant enough for the support and love they shared with us on our special day. 🤍 I was so blessed to be able to have JB’s sister Julia and my friend @michelamgn stand beside me. I’m grateful that JB’s best friend @_sparko7 and my brother @srmrdrprof flew across the Atlantic to stand beside @jbv_on_tour. 🤍 And the biggest thank you to our officiant, Dr. Susan Perry, who has been a support for me and my family since I arrived in France 6 years ago. It meant so much to have her officiate our ceremony, but also translate our civil ceremony into English for our livestream/English speakers. 🤍 The day was so magical, and these individuals helped to make it so. 38 years later, I got the honor to wear my mother’s wedding dress for my own wedding. 🤍 @3iles did a fantastic job modifying the 1987 dress into a more modern style, while still keeping the beautiful elements of my mother’s dress. The work they did was in just over a week and was perfect: 🤍 Shortened the sleeves and added lace from the train. 🤍 Shortened the cathedral train to a more “farm wedding” manageable one. 🤍 Added some length to the dress by lowering the lace hem. 🤍 Created a deep V back, but kept the button detailing at the lower back. 🤍 adjusted the petticoat with jersey material at the waist for comfort. The work they did was just incredible and the dress felt like it was mine, but also my mom’s at the same time. I could not have picked a better dress to wear even if I tried. Following the not so great prognosis so soon after our engagement, my oncologist encouraged us to get married as soon as possible. The marriage application process in France takes a minimum of 3 months - our mairie understood the importance of the situation and managed to process our application in 3 days (including a Sunday!). We were given our wedding date of 28 February 2026. We now had 3 weeks to plan our entire wedding. Thankfully, the same day we connected with wedding planner @aliciaweddingplanner and she has been instrumental in helping us navigate this shotgun wedding. Although we have had to make some tough decisions regarding what we could realistically do versus what our dreams were - we are looking forward to this time next week being husband and wife. Instead of a traditional registry, we have done a honeymoon registry for people to contribute to our small honeymoon in Venice. 🚨 TREATMENT UPDATE: Line 5, Day 1 🚨 On February 6th we got difficult news. The treatment didn’t stop the cancer, and there has been progression in my lungs and liver. My liver function isn’t where it needs to be right now. The doctors have given a timeline of weeks to a few months — but if this journey has taught me anything, it’s that statistics don’t know my spirit. We’re starting a new chemotherapy. At the same time, my oncologist is reaching out to major cancer hospitals in the Paris region to search for clinical trials that I might qualify for. The biggest hurdle is my liver function — so that’s where all my energy is focused. If you can, please send every positive thought, prayer, intention, and ounce of good energy my way. Visualize my liver healing. Visualize more time. Visualize options opening. This is not over unless it’s truly over. I love you all deeply. 🏥 Enhertu Treatment 2 🏥 This past Friday (just 2 days post-surgery), I had my second round of Enhertu 💉 It’s been hard to tell what’s coming from surgery recovery, what’s from Enhertu, and what’s just… me being me. So far, nausea has been the biggest challenge 🤢, followed by fatigue and loss of appetite. I’m doing my best to take it one moment at a time 🫶 My first round of Enhertu lasted 90 minutes so they could monitor for any adverse reactions. It’s also (anecdotally) known to help keep side effects a bit milder. This round, however, was just 30 minutes ⏱️. I definitely felt the fatigue more immediately afterward, but overall it feels pretty similar to round one. For me, the side effects tend to peak around 5 days post-treatment. I’m guessing that’s when my steroid support ends, and the nausea and fatigue really settle in 💤 My next round is on February 6, and I’ll have a body scan beforehand to see if the Enhertu is working. I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that we’ll see improvement or stabilization, so I can stay on Enhertu for as long as possible. 🏥 Surgery Day! 🏥 On Monday, I had a scan of my back and met with both my surgeon and anesthesiologist. By the end of the day, my surgery was officially scheduled for today (Wednesday). 👨‍⚕️ As you can see in photo 2, my T2 vertebra is significantly damaged compared to the surrounding ones. 🦴 I’ll be having a cementoplasty, which means the surgeon will inject a special cement into the bone to strengthen and stabilize it. The cement is delivered slowly through a long needle from my back, with regular imaging throughout the procedure to make sure everything is going exactly as planned. 💉 The surgery itself should take about 1.5 hours. I’ll stay overnight in the hospital for observation, but the team is optimistic that everything will go smoothly. 💪 I’m here now (clearly rocking my very stylish hospital-chic outfit 😌), just waiting to be called down to the surgery unit. 🏨 Oncology Appointment Update 🏨 It was a busy week after returning from the U.S. Not only did the Paris region get hit with two days of heavy snowfall, but one of those days happened to fall on the same day as my oncology appointment. Thankfully, I still made it into the city — and on time. I met with my oncologist, and we covered a lot, including several things I specifically asked to add or adjust to better support my treatment. Here’s what’s coming up: 1️⃣ I’ll be starting a monthly injection to put me back into menopause. After reflection and discussion, I feel this is the right decision for my treatment path moving forward. 2️⃣ I need to receive the annual COVID vaccine and the pneumococcal vaccine, in addition to the flu shot I already had. This is due to potential lung-related side effects associated with Enhertu. 3️⃣ My next treatment session has been delayed from January 8 to January 16 to allow time for surgery. Enhertu can significantly lower blood counts, and my team wants them as high as possible beforehand. 4️⃣ My surgery is scheduled for January 14. It will involve injecting a cement-like substance into the fractured vertebra to stabilize it. Once healed, it should be stronger than normal bone and — hopefully — relieve the nerve pain I’ve been dealing with. I have a consult with the surgeon & anesthesiologist on 12 January. 5️⃣ I’ll also need to see a dentist for a jaw X-ray to be cleared for a bone-strengthening and bone-growth medication. This should help prevent future fractures and encourage regrowth where cancer has damaged bone (yes, I’m looking at you, sternum). I’m incredibly grateful for an oncologist who listens, explains things clearly, and treats me like an active partner in my care. And I’m deeply thankful for my support system — the people who come to appointments with me, help me remember everything, and advocate alongside me.
