Harvest is in full swing across the vineyards of Kent and Sussex, which is as good an excuse as any to visit and drink some very good local wine.
We’re lucky to have some brilliant producers practically on our doorstep, and we like to champion some local drops on our list, such as Wayfarer Wines and Hoffman & Rathbone.

Next up in our English Wine Heroes journey… 🍾

Our Blanc de Noir 2015 certainly made an impression on @oz.clarke and @tomsurgey .

“Toasted sourdough straight from the grill. Pendulous autumn orchard fruit, gathered just before the wasps arrived. Rich, salty croissant, mouthfilling, savoury finish.”

We think they may have found the perfect words for this wine. 🍾

Another bottle we’re very proud to make here in Sussex.

We can confirm it pairs perfectly with a glass of Hoffmann & Rathbone Pinot Noir. 🍷

Uli put it to the test on holiday, enjoying a little mystery, murder and wine… perfect poolside reading.

Some wines are made for summer… and our Rosé Reserve 2014 is one of them. 🌸🥂

Recently tasted as part of Oz & Tom’s English Wine Heroes 2026, it was described as:

“A dancer of a sparkling rosé. English raspberry, rose petal and the crunch of the raspberry pip between your teeth.”

2014, a beautiful year.

Great sparkling wine isn’t just limited to Champagne!

The world of Sparkling wine has grown and England has been at the forefront of this revolution.

If you haven’t had an English sparkling wine before, then you need to keep on reading this and share it with a fellow bubblehead!

Semi-quietly, England has been entering the frame for the last decade+. It’s not easy to find the wines, but the quality is there.

Which is why I love the hunt so much and getting to experience bottles like the 2013 Hoffman and Rathbone Blanc de Blancs.

Hoffman and Rathbone hold back their Bubbles until they feel they are fully ready for the market. So a bottle like this 2013 is actually a current release! There is so much complexity as stone fruits and baked citrus notes combine beautifully with the pastry dough and toasty autolytic tones while still having a bit of almond paste and yellow florals to round it all out.

The Medium bodied feel is textured and balanced with tart, high acidity that has some bite but doesn’t overdo it.

I did have to go to Bath to find this. And specifically go to one of Bath’s best wine-centric restaurants. So there was a bit of the chase. But to sit down at Corkage, have a great meal, and drink this gorgeous wine was completely worth every bit of it!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Hoffmann & Rathbone wine dinner hosted by winemaker Ulrich Hoffmann last week🍷✨

Guests, food, drink and the warm weather came together to create such a beautiful evening.

From the elegant Blanc de Blancs 2010 poured from magnums on arrival in our courtyard garden, to standout pours including the Classic Cuvée 2015, Pinot Noir NV5 and Rosé Reserve 2014, an exceptional line-up of English wines flowed.

Each was paired with Graham Garrett’s seasonal menu, with dishes including Marinated Orkney Scallop, elderflower ajo blanco, fermented gooseberry, and poached Kentish cherries with meadowsweet cake and yoghurt sorbet.

Thank you to Ulrich for sharing the stories behind every bottle, and to all our guests for making it such a memorable night. 🍾
