PRESENTING BLENDE HUB: "WE REFUSE TO CONSTRAIN OURSELVES BY WHAT THE SCENE EXPECTS YOU TO DO"

Within the techno scene, it’s easy to get stuck in what works and what sells. To avoid stagnation and preserve artistic freedom, Instinkt Lab spun oﬀ an experimental platform called Blende Hub, allowing space to curate floors beyond predictable genre boundaries.
We met with founders Jannis Hohe and Sergei Makarov, whose collaboration began in an unlikely way. Despite living in Cologne and Moscow respectively, they first connected through the Welsh label NFEREE. When war broke out, Jannis supported Sergei’s move to Germany. Berlin eventually became home to both, where they reunited to develop BLENDE. For our upcoming party, BLENDE will curate an experimental floor—promising unexpected sonic landscapes.

Hohe and FForm (fka Emkay) present their first collaboration for the home base. Having already spent significant time together in the studio, this EP offers a first glimpse into their shared interpretation of peak-time music - deeply shaped by personal experiences across various dance floors - reflected & translated through their own sonic tools.
For the remix, one of South Africa’s most intriguing contemporary techno figures, Deano, steps in. After several encounters in Cape Town and Berlin, and a continued exchange of musical perspectives, his contribution closes another personal circle in this release.

The new BLENDE release marks another personal milestone closing one and opening another chapter, as the platform’s two key curators showcase their very first collaboration on a limited edition lathe cut vinyl.

Soundwise, it reflects and translates what BLENDE stands for: experimentation within convenient and familiar structures. For this release, Hohe and 04061 combine their shared affinity for ambient and deep techno with more leftfield production approaches. With Mod21’s remix of «Vulnerability», they bring in one of the key figures of the early deep techno glow-up in the 2010s, adding his distinctive signature approach to the genre on this limited 12’ EP.

Second premiere from upcoming BLENDE03 is now online on instinkt lab SoundCloud.
Hohe & 04061 — Repetition Blindness.

This track utilises unusual approach to the central, sample based element of it. Balancing between rhythm and texture.

Those shots are a part of a lovely photoshoot that we recently did together with @mojo.0g and @maramenzel . More to come when the release goes live.

For the 27th installment in our EP/LP series, we welcome Hohe (Berlin), featuring a remix from Irazu.

Benthic Behaviour unfolds as a long-form study in deep, experimental techno - sound moving beneath the surface, shaped by tension, negative space, and a slow pressure of time.

Reduced, hypnotic, and constantly shifting at the low end, the record leans into PHTM’s focus on restrained power, narrative pacing, and detail in the shadows.

Irazu’s remix pulls the material further inward, tightening the atmospheres into a denser, minimal framework while keeping the core pulse intact.
